Harold stops in at an apparent Vigoron hot spot north of Esteli. I like where he says it is only 10 or 15 min out of town but a google puts it a good 30+km out of town :-)

Neat, I want something like that.

    I see only two problems:

1; it's going to be a life of solitude,, not too many women will be eager to share life in a rustic cabin.
(Where's the washing machine? Skin WHAT for dinner ?? )

2; Any human predator who wanders by will probably trash it, or worse, burn it.

    Surprisingly,, it's not Biden,, yet.

Without the resolve shown by the US and Europeans, and the financial aid that made the resolve viable,,
Putin may have attempted additional incursions into Lithuania and Finland.
Even India and China seem to have finally realized the potential downfall of a direct conflict between the US and Russia

The pictures of the devastation in Florida from Ian give some hint what major metropolitan areas in the US and Russia will look like after the brief conflict.
Then there is the radiation, of course.

Cabin Boy will be OK though,, he'll go on trapping and skinning something to eat.
Plenty of wood to cook it with,, and to keep warm with during the ensuing nuclear winter.
And I suspect, so will Nicaragua.

That northern Alberta couple have sold off all of their Canadian properties and are back in Nicaragua - They attended the crown plaza for some reason. (Something in Managua, flight layover before going to SJDS - probably something like that)

I chuckle at the term "Down town"

For me I would have mentioned the burger joint collection down by the hilton and the Pharos Casino across the road that has a good dinner menu.

A Mega Cruiser has found its way to the US via Kazakhstan and was reviewed by Doug. It is currently being auctioned on his site.

When the video went up it was $1,200 - at 4:30 is was at 32,000 - Now it is at $65,000 for a bid.

There are two ways to our place on Manitoulin - One is a year around swing bridge, the other is a ferry that traveles from Early May to early October . That ferry leaves from Tabermory on the Bruce peninsula.

This video is from just to the east of Tobermory to the harbour and then off to Flower pot island. Flower Pot island was one of the typical places we took relatives from the Netherlands when they came over in the 70's and early 80's. They would whine and whine about the 4 hour drive there - About the entire time to traverse the Netherlands by car. They thought that amount of driving was insane in one day.

We're seeing more and more school districts go to electric buses. These are expensive,, I've seen electric bus prices of $400K. Generally some funny money grant buys the buses. A diesel bus goes for a bit more than $200K.
    https://electrek.co/2022/03/29/us-sc...-school-buses/

This is a totally different type of service than a semi barrelling down the interstate.
It makes a lot of sense:

A bus typically goes from early morning (maybe 6AM to 9AM), and then back to the yard until school is out for the afternoon.
    Let's say 2PM to 5:30

Schools across the country are littered with large solar panel installations. These could be repurposed to charge the buses. Actually,, electricity is fungible,, it's just, you get significantly less in most areas selling your power, and you buy it back at a premium.

A good bit of power could be recovered with regenerative braking,, although an air compressor would still be required for the air brakes.
    Those buses are heavy.

    Getting back to the semis.

I just don't see how this is going to work without some universal battery exchange system. You pull into a Flying J and a forklift pulls and replaces your battery set, and you are on your way. Hours of service limitations in the US limit daily driving to 11 hours (roughly, this is an extremely complicated area of the law, with myriad exceptions). So, conceivably, the battery could be charged during the mandated rest time.

There is still a big question as to where all this electricity -to replace the diesel and gasoline- is going to come from.

It's going to take more than some mindless Don Quixote like faith in windmills to make it all happen,
