I love bananas.
I eat one daily,, even though they are not "keto" and are high on the glycemic scale.



I try to eat an apple daily,, my recent favorite is "Cosmic"
Two things I miss in Nicaragua are good, crisp, apples, and affordable nuts.
We have some of our own apples and I would like to expand on that success.

This has been a great year for avocados,, plentiful and affordable.
I prefer the Haas variety,, and we started some Haas trees on the farm.

I'm not crazy about the Nicaraguan avocados, less taste, but I eat them.

Haas avocado, my pigs on Island would not eat. Famous Avocado in Nica is the Corn Island Butter Pear, is the best. I have 7-8 varieties of Pear (Avocado) on my place, all make Haas look like a poor substitute of an imitation Avocado.

My Girlfriend loves Avocado so she buys often, Haas is all you see here, sometimes I taste it, usually spit it n the sink, another reminder of why I hate it here, green ripe shitty pear, would not feed feed them to my dogs.

Pork been cheap here lately, we been eating a lot of Pork Chops, do them lot like he is doing there, but on a pellet smoker, just made a leftover pork chop omelet this morning.

Butts been running $2 here, I am a buyer at $1.49, not $2, I been watching sales last few months to get a few, none under $2. You did good on those.

Now there is a de-emphasis on cholesterol and meat in terms of heart health.
I struggle to put all the pieces together.
So,, I can eat all the eggs I want, and a reasonable amount of red meat, and not worry about my heart.


But,, there are still the kidneys (as Tina Turner found out) in the mix.
She felt that the source of her illness was uncontrolled blood pressure over many years.
Excessive red meat is hard on the kidneys.

When I began following Pradip I started eating a T-bone or New York every day for lunch.
Barbecued. Meat was cheap,, $4.77 for some really nice stuff.
And a hard boiled egg for breakfast. And lots of coffee.

When he said,, "you can eat eggs, you can eat red meat" he probably didn't mean a steak a day.
Actually,, he said you can eat red meat as long as it's grass fed.
Something about the difference in Omega content when it's grain fed.



My calculated GFR fell from 64 to 54 as a result. GFR is not measured,, it's calculated from some other blood measurements
Not a real indication of my kidney health,, it's a calculation that got skewed by all the protein.

BUT,, every cloud has a silver lining. When I come back from Nicaragua,, the insurance has OK'd s workup by a Nephrologist
Now I just have to find one who is slightly bent.

The neat thing is, once you are on this track the insurance expects you to come back every year for a really hard look,
as opposed to a simple blood pull.

Healthy looking chickens.

That chicken coop offers nicer living space than many campesinos in Nicaragua enjoy.

I tried the electric poultry netting,, didn't work. We need more security.
It's a neat idea,, move the chickens around easily.
I'm not sure the effort of foraging for bugs pays off in terms of calories out,, calories in.
But the chickens really like it.

Chain link works best.
I've had chickens stolen, and if I didn't lock them up night,,, we would lose more.
Drunks know that they can trade a stolen chicken for a bottle of guaro.
They DO like some roosting structure. The chickens,, not the drunks.


Those are the bees I am used to. All you need is safety glasses to work them.
If you re-queened every year, maybe you could keep the african bees at bay.

I was looking at some of the numbers last night.

Only 1% of vehicles are currently EV. But 50% by 2030 ?
Most people who buy EV's have ICE vehicles ,, so the EV is an add-on.


Prices are still high
If they got the price of a comfortable 2 seater commuter EV down to well under $20K, with a ten year battery and enough range for a week's commute.
And replaced parking meters with charging sockets.

Where does a guy who lives in a reasonably priced apartment charge his EV now?
The real problem continues to be the charging infrastructure.


Too bad we wasted all that COVID money.

The real problem continues to be the charging infrastructure.

Horse has left the barn - Even though ICE is more capable as EV, the marketing has its focus that is hard to overcome. Yes 1% of all cars but sales per year is approacing 20%

An EV is still 20% more than a comparable ICE - Bur that is down from 40%

In Canada you can do the full country now with the subsibised infastructure - EU even more as there is almost 100% coverage of infastructure.

I never see me buying one and am resigned to the end of the ICE - Diesel first (maybe just left to intercontinental truck runs and construction equipment) and then gas withing 50 to 60 yrs.
