I think Walmart in Nica is selling those tests, but I think leaving MGA to MIA you will still have to have to $150 test.

If you can get it accepted, I think is a risky game, you lose your flight and you are screwed, I have a friend, Dual Passports, has done it 4 times and is going the $150 route again, not taking a chance.

know of 3 people, that went there, being negative, took the "test" on exit, with negative result, the same day, they did their test here, and were positive.
and I hate to attribute that to the, false-negative chances
More like an airport tax, you don't need it to go to CR and various other places. And Nic has a state monopoly on the expensive test to go to the US. As I explained to a Nica friend, the US would take a ham sandwich if it called itself a covid test. It's all numbers, each test has its percentage and each tech/clinic has its percentage.

It's all a numbers game. Masks, etc., are 30-40% effective. Shots, with the D variant, are 67-90%. Sitting home is almost 100% effective but gets old after a while.

Yep, I think the States will take anything from what I read, I am still surprised they are not accepting the vaccination card, especially for citizens. I don't get it.

Now that CR has dropped insurance requirement, it is the clear choice. Buy a self test before you go for the return flight, get your PCR on arrival. Lot more (and much cheaper) flight options, especially to SJO. Not looked in a while but were some great deals to Liberia from oddball airports like Pensacola via Houston.

United and AA are still selling cheap tickkees for the future, Who knows, someday they may actually fly. Lir has changed its name to Guanacaste and from what I can see is the up and coming airport. Lots of flights. Too bad me and my wife hate the tropical lowlands, its a F...desert, although the town does look clean and organized. The only culture shock I had on my last trip was going from Liberia to Managua, its like going from San Diego to TJ.
Indian restaurant good, but price wise do they think they are in Manhattan? Museum closed for wuflu. Lib has 2 bus stations, Pullman and they other one a few blocks apart, and cheap buses to border.

Avianca from Miami to MGA, or the Charters on Eastern, both in that price range. With Avianca make sure you get the direct flight, not through El Sal.

So today starts the "suck it up buttercup" phase of the C-19 journey.

The Ontario chief medical officer of health was speaking on how school will not be impacted for 21/22 school year with the current suite of facts.

Mostly summised with approaching 80% vaccination we now need to move to a "Managing" Covid exposure model from the previous protect model.

With (Ontario) 81% eligible first dose, and 71% eligible 2nd dose it is time to move on.

The Boys got their 2nd shot Monday - Only my Daughter is hesitant still but she will choose to get is soon..

I spent a lot of time in Liberia, liked it.
Two first class National parks and the Rincon de la Vieja volcano,, with the Río Azul resort.
Lots to see and do, helps if you drive.

CR is pricey, but there is value.

I agree with your comment about San Diego to TJ.

Vaccine passport discussions have splashed on to the front page here - Flag barer is the Province of Quebec - They are going balls to the wall on passports to do anything of substance (School, visiting Seniors in old age homes etc etc)

Close behind is (our) Lotus land, British Columbia. Close behind are Saskatchewan and Manitoba with a "Lite" passport what ever that means.

Alberts (Canada's TX) and Ontario are still completely against the idea and have no plans to implement.

This discussion is really a tempest in a tea pot as well in that by the time a working framework is agreed to the pandemic will be past.

Like the guy is not technically wrong...

    1) Masks do not block the arenol - Correct - _But_ they do statistically reduce the broadcast or Arenol in close quarters.

    2) Does the vaccine stop the virus - No - _But the vaccine suppresses virus reproduction in the host and makes resultant symptoms (in the majority of those infected) mild to non existent.

    3) Will the virus be irradiated - No - Correct - So you have to manage it - Unfortunately a few stated (US, Brazil, Nicaragua and others) choose a "Con Dios" arrangement throwing it all to the choice of God, Darwin, or raw luck .

But hey - Heals are dug in and it ain't gonna change...

Many people feel that it's more important how they live during that brief time allotted to US.
For many,, walking around with a mask on is not an equitable tradeoff.

    2. Many people do not take care of themselves, and the rest of us pay the price. Obesity, drug and alcohol addiction, poor diet; we all pay the price for others poor choices.
    3. Finally, there have been effective treatments since the beginning, treatments that have been denied to us for specious reasons, many of which speak to control of our lives. You can easily get crack anywhere in the US, but azitromicina and dexamethazone,, ??

When the dust settles on this in ten years we may finally find out what really happened. We sure as $h!t don't know what is going on right now.

I wear a mask out of respect to others, but I go to the store every 2 or 3 days for 10 minutes, so not a big deal. I am not wearing a mask walking down an empty road. I see people alone in cars wearing a masks and laugh but it has become part of many peoples "uniform", they just don't think about.

We are are in many ways sheeple. What scares me now is how polarized people have gotten, I got friends being ugly to 1 another about which side they are on. I get both sides, I understand both sides, but people are getting crazy, is a Personal choice, as it should be.

We are are a long ways from being done with this and its aftermath. I don't like a lot of what I am seeing.

Exactly, gov’t ‘science’ is the official State religion now. Question the dogma at your peril. Much as it once was heretical to say, to prove scientifically, that the Earth is not the center of the universe, the core of the present official belief system is that mankind is the crown on the evolutionary tree of life, that we are responsible for all, capable of controlling all, the Earth is ours. Yet we are brought down by bits of dust ... and our kind modified those microscopic bits to make them more infectious, more deadly - to what end? Control. Games.

A humble politician is an oxymoron. Humility serves scientists on a quest for truth, not politicians.

I missed the original posting - now, This video is unavailable! - that kicked-off this discussion yesterday.. I’m guessing it was this heretic:

That doctor is a convincing speaker.

But in this world of fakery, he could also be a well-paid actor with a well-crafted script. Maybe everything's a psy-op, so we'll constantly be fighting each other over false dichotomies.

An extended version of The Truman Show ?

One point he did make that was important was the correlation of Vitamin D and strength of the immune system.
This could very well be one of the missing links,, one part of the explanation why some people get so sick and others get a pass.

I was astonished to find I was low in vitamin D a couple of years ago,, I drink a lot of milk, out in the sun, Tucson for crying out loud,, but there it was. So, I've been taking a supplement since then. Cheap, no downside.

The PA who takes care of me is always looking for some additional test that Humana will pay for.
I've only seen my assigned doctor once, she was never around.

"You don't have to do that,, I don't have a prostate, lost it in 2008"

"It's part of the exam,, turn around and bend over"
She sold her piece of the practice last year.

Kim (the PA) seems uninterested in physically checking my (non existent) prostate, but claims that I still need a PSA test every year. I get a tetanus booster every year (the barbed wire), but we have exhausted all the other possibilities such as shingles, pneumococcal, hepatitis,

The point the doctor in the video was making was the correlation between vitamin d levels, and the greater frequency of flu in the winter.

The NYT had some interesting charts describing break through virus cases among the vaccinated, by state.
States with the highest vaccination rates had the highest break through percentages.
Which makes sense, I guess,, except, in a state like Vermont with a 93% vaccination rate,, the question begged is,, where (or from whom) are you catching the virus?

Death rates and hospitilizations among the vaccinated ARE lower than among the unvaccinated,, but some people still die.

Regarding the anti-vax people,, their caution is well placed. I believe the vaccine is better than the alternative, but it's not a perfect world, and there is a lot of money on the line here.

    A cautionary tale:
