"The confiscation of properties at least 10 U.S. citizens in the last 12 months and the lack of transparency with which the Government of Nicaragua manages Venezuelan cooperation jeopardizes the approval of the waivers that the U.S. attaches to our country, which are indispensable to receive U.S. bilateral cooperation, as well as that granted by international financial organizations.
Gonzalo Gallegos, director for Central State Department said in an interview with the weekly Confidential that under the current government of Daniel Ortega are running "confiscation" of property, which represents an obstacle for the waiver of the property to provide Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the last day of July, for continuing U.S. support to Nicaragua through multilateral organizations like the World Bank and IDB."
