I kinda forgot about this site existing but glad I came across it again. I have a couple or three questions for the long term ex-pats or native Nicaraguans on the site .
My questions are these:
1. can a Nicaraguan minor open up a bank account on her own. said child is 12 years old.
2. what is the best way to set up a trust fund in Nicaragua for a child who you want to inherit some money for education ( no pay out till 21) in the event of my death
3. What is the best way to send money to someone in Nicaragua without the government getting too much of it.
thanks to anyone who can help me out on this.
Basically the situation is this- I lived with a Nicaraguan family several years back and we have remained tight friends since then. Their child is doing quite well in school and has aspirations of becoming a engineer. I have the kid taking extra English course and have made a deal with her that if she continues to get good grades and does not get pregnant I will help pay for her university possibly in Chile, Spain, Cuba, or Mexico -whichever is the best bang for the buck in getting her a high class ticket. The problem is I have a bad ticker and I don't know how much longer I might be around and I want to make sure she gets the money but not until she is old enough to use it most wisely. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.
