    Re: Lodo, Polvo y Moscas

This is the most disturbing simile that I've heard in a long time. :hurl:

    Re: Lodo, Polvo y Moscas

:lmao: I had those little bitey ones. Either they inject venom when they bite, or else I'm allergic to them--or more likely it's both. I killed my fair share of them when I was on your farm.

    Re: No Ortega?

I'm glad that the touristy areas are still tame.

Reading your response, it occurs to me that what I saw in Managua in April and May may have been restricted to Managua. I assumed that what I was...

    Re: No Ortega?

There are a certain number of Nicaraguans who are anti-gringo, but this is nothing new. In my experience, they are a minority. I ran into them in 1996 (my first trip to Nicaragua), and I've run...

    Re: No Ortega?

To be fair to us "lemmings", not all of us were scared off by the Western press. My experience walking the streets of Nicaragua alone (especially in Managua) is probably far removed from the...

Re: Getting Exciting: Three Bombs in Estelí

When you say "bombs", what exactly do you mean? I'm used to explosions in Nicaragua in the form of mortar rounds and firecrackers and such... Were these larger than that?

    ...I found this...

    Re: Question.....

I agree, and I did not mean to suggest that the United States is an exception to what I said. The US has been in bed with socialism for a long time. Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt both made...

I enjoy communication via the written word, and so this has been a pleasurable and productive interaction for me. Despite not having met you (or most people on TRN), I feel as though I have--thanks...

    Re: Question.....

The conversation surrounding capitalism and socialism should not be about caring (or not caring) for those who cannot care for themselves. I understand that those who support socialism like to claim...

    Re: Question.....

Norway doesn't prove what pro-socialist types think that it proves. Norway became rich through capitalism and a limited government. After they got wealthy, they got stupid (as is often the pattern)...

    Re: New Bonds In Euros

That may or may not be true. I can accept that the first verifiable usage of the phrase can only be tracked back to 1952 (in print or on a recording), but that doesn't mean that it wasn't used...

    Re: Cinco Cinco Chocoyero

We made it the entire way on a little moto-taxi on the way in, and we made it out in a 2wd car. The road is rough, but passable in the dry season. I wouldn't recommend trying it in the wet season....
