Corn Island Advice

Hey there!

I will be traveling to the Corn Islands next month (August) and am looking for any advice you can give on travel, food, lodging, activities, safety, money, etc. Feel free to share good or bad experiences, any helpful hints or whatever you think we need to know about traveling down there! We will be spending two weeks there, the first on Big Corn and then a few days on Little Corn, and then returning back to Big Corn before departing. We are so excited for this trip!

I would check out bigcornisland.com - there is great info on the islands
Also lots of great background on the Yahoo site for Corn Island.

There are many places to stay in all price ranges. The Corn Island web site has them all along with a list of restaurants. My favorite restaurant is Morgan's, excellent fried fish. I have never felt threatened in the islands although I know there was a time when little corn was having a problem with random robbery. I'm not sure but I think that has been taken care of now that they have a police presence. Just use your common sense. I love the beaches on Big Corn, the best I think is at Picnic Center. Long beach, another beautiful beach, now has a bar/restaurant which is a good addition. You don't need any reservations on the islands, just go and have a good time. You will LOVE it.
