    Default American Football

Nicaragua has an incredible American style football team called the Guerreros. These guys are so fun to watch! Who wants to join me for some tailgating?

On Sat Oct 23rd and Sat Nov 20th, the Guerreros will travel to San Marcos to play the Ave Maria Knights. I'd like to get a bunch of folks together, bring snacks and drinks and lots of football attitude, and let's make an afternoon of it!

I'll update on this post with the starting times when I get them. In the mean time, check out this great article on the game the Guerreros lost in overtime to the Santa Ana Bulldogs in Cost Rica back in June.

You can also follow the team from their Facebook page "Guerreros De Nicaragua"

    Here's more info...

1st game Ave Maria Knights vs Gladiators 1pm start time
2nd game Mad Dawgs vs UCC Lobos 3pm start time

Parking behind the college and along the edge of the field.
Tailgating allowed. I wouldn't recommend any grilling as the college might not be happy with that, cold menus best. I'll be serving ham and cheese lahvosh, macaroni salad and fried quequisque chips...are ya' ready for some football?!

Call Melissa at 8-367-8252 if you have questions.

I´m in Melissa. Gotta figure out some cold snacks I can bring. Does the college have trouble with cold beer?

Football Americano in Nicaragua...today's games were at Ave Maria College, the back gate was guarded by the "gate Nazi" and we had to leave our cedulas with the jerk after a player helped us get by him. He was like, you're not on the list so I can't let you in. What an idiot! How is Nicaraguan football supposed to get a following if fans are hassled at the gate? The guard when we left was super friendly, maybe trying to make up for the earlier jerk?

I'll get that problem solved before the next game on Nov 20th. The guard's name was Pedro...which I think is Spanish for d*ckhead.

    How big is the audience?

    How old are the players?

How do you pronounce d*ckhead in Spanish?

It is pronounced P-E-D-R-O According to Mel's Dictionary......

Direct translation could be Cabeza de Pinga (cuban), or Cabeza de verga (Nica).

Next game in Mga...Nicaragua against Honduras, Feb 26th at 2pm-ish.

The sign says Sunday, but it's an error. The date is the 26th, so that makes it Saturday.
