My favorite tree in Nicaragua. I would love to own it and build a house in it. Is along the beach of the lake here in Granada where I walk each day.

Maybe my second favorite tree! It looks like one from those Disney cartoon flicks where the tree gets up out the swamp and chases some kids to eat them!

No idea why DSB can't see 'em.

Jack, do you happen to know what kind of trees those are? I like the second one, it has character.

Here is a "famous" one in Diriomo. Supposed to be 150 years old!

Always loved the trees when I am visiting, I've only visited during the dry season.

One of my favorites from the Isleta boat tour in Granada.

Mr Bob.... I copied this pic off the internet.... it is supposed to be a famous tree in Diriomo for lovers. The other pics I copied off of my facebook page. Maybe you could join facebook and then you would be able to see them. Don't worry, I am sure someone ,on facebook, will want to be your friend!

My sister sent me this link after I posted, on facebook, about wanting to build a house in this tree.

Ya think the idea would fly in Nicaragua?

These pics show just how full Lake Nicaragua is these days. The beach used to go a 100 feet or so beyond these trees and bushes.

I'm definitely a novice here, but a quanacaste tree is similar in profile. (

I thought so too but I asked my wife and she said no (they have a guanacaste tree in the family's front yard) but she didn't know what type it was. I "googled" guanacaste tree and it says they grow from 25 to 35 feet tall. This tree is close to 70 feet tall. Everytime I pass by it, I imagine a house built right where the branches start spreading from the tall trunk.

Jack, is that the tree with the yellow orange blossoms? If so, I was told it was a milinki tree or something to that effect? It's not a ceba is it?

They have this little one tied to the chair while they feed her so she doesn't fall off. She is my newest Nica niece and she had her first birthday about a month ago. Cachetona, ella! (It means she has chubby cheeks)

This is the backporch of a house here in Granada that overhangs the arroyo and has no fence or railing. I wonder if there are any kids living there.
