    Default Asthma in Nicaragua

According to Dr. Jorge Cuadra, of the Association Nicaragüense of Neumología, of the 5.1 million people living in Nicaragua, no less than 15% are asthmatic.

That's very interesting, given the high rate of asthma in surrounding countries. Is there significantly decreased air pollution in Nica?

    Default I read this wrong!

I see now that the doc was saying that 15 out of every 100 people have asthma.

How is access to medication? Is it costly? Is pollution being blamed?

It's very dusty in Nicaragua in the dry season, and in the wet season, household mold is prevalent from what I've seen. At least, that's my theory.

Asthma inhalers and pills are available and cheap (to us) but not cheap to most Nicas. We have an ear nose and throat doctor in the family, in Esteli, who's very familiar with all that.
