    Default VISA extension in Granada

I used to go to the Office de Gobernacion on Calle Xalteva but that's gone now. Can I get a 30 day extension in Granada or do I have to go to Managua? Also, what is the daily penalty for being here too long (besides 30 more days of hangovers )? It used to be about a buck a day. If it still is, then I won't bother getting an extension and just pay the fine at the airport before I leave. That is, if the notice that I have been here too long. Last time I was 10 days over and they didn't say a word!

Yak I have two friends living here retired and have grown frustrated with the residency thing.

If they over stay a bit on their 6 months in going to CR they only pay a dollar a day.

    This is current info.

Thanks JW...I'll be over by 30 days so $30 !!! That's cheaper than the extension!

And Jonh...you're right! I may have adapted too well...I keep thinkin about if there's a way to stay here permanently! I'm ready, but my life is not. Still got things need doing Stateside!

What's the worst that could happen if they don't get done?

Still a buck a day and the standard extension is for 90 days, not 30.

You can get a 30 day extension at the office here in Granada. It's located out by the police station. The extension itself is 210 cords plus 50 cords for the service. They send your passport to Managua and when it is returned to you the new stamp will reflect the additional 30 days plus whatever time you have remaining on your original stamp. It takes 5 days. When you show up you will need a copy of the photo page of your passport and a copy of the original entry stamp. If you have overstayed your original time and you apply for an extension they will only give you 10 days and require you to leave the country. The original 90 days is 90 days not 3 months. The day you entered the country counts as a day and the day you leave counts as a day. Bobby

Wow... talk about a learning curve! That's a lot of stuff I didn't know. And now, I won't go anywhere near that office since I am already over by 2 days and have a return ticket for the 31st of the month. I sure don't want to get booted outa here in 10 days!!!! Now I just have to stay outa trouble so that no one asks to see my passport!
    Thanks Bobby...

    Flew back home yesterday!
31 days over this time and no problem. They sent me right through to departure gate. No fine, no nothing.

    Sucks being back though!

Now you are being mean, MEAN, they don’t have FDC here in Argentina. They had it everywhere in Panama and if I had known....
