Thread: Fresh Bagels and Such

    Default Fresh Bagels and Such

I had to make an order of bagels for someone that does not speak Spanish, and found out about this bagel and bakery... my pay was a bagel.

Pan Ticomo is owned by Thomas and Cecilia Imgrund. It is located at Km 10 1/4 Carretera Sur, Gasolinera Shell 25 vrs. abajo, Calle Las Palmeras, Reparto Santa Isabel, Apartado J-110, Managua.

    Cell: 8854-6725
Not sure if this is a fax machine or voice: 2265-7419

I found the bagel to be the best there is in Nicaragua. Its not a New York bagel, but its a LOT better than frozen bagels. Cost of the Plain is 15 cords a piece.

Additionally I had some donuts from them as well, the boston creme is excellent and they had a good french twist,

You're thinking of bolsas judíos, not bollos judíos.

My Merriam-Webster Spanish-English says rosquilla de pan which is only a little closer and still rather misleading.

Hey JPJW. The closest you are going to come to that is a stick of baloney down at that store 2 blocks from the Indian next to the coke place.

I have seen smoked salmon at three places here, "El Salmon" always has it, Pricesmart has it on occasion, and on some rare occasions I have seen it at the bigger La Colonia stores like Plaza España, and hyper.

Bagels makes me think of whitefish salad, haven't found that down here. I have 3 whole snook from JW's last care package, so Roger threw one on the rustic grill and smoked it for a while. Got 1/lb of cleaned meat off the smallest of the snook, the addition on sour cream, mayo, fresh dill and chives and a touch of black pepper, and it's d*mn close to what I remember from the States. A bit too wet for my tastes so the next smoked fish will get less sourcream, and I think I'll soak the whole fish in brine before smoking it.

So glad to find that this fish works well in this dish...guess I gotta head back into Mga for some of those bagels now.

In my what-doesn't-even-remotely-resemble-humble opinion, it just doesn't get any better than DAC cangrejo!
