Default New Finca Market in Granada!

Hey all, just a head's up on the latest project. Several folks are getting together in the Granada area to bring homegrown and homemade products to town. Kevin of Imagine Restaurant has generously offered his space for this monthly event. Vendors will be offering fresh vegetables, homebaked breads, made-from-scratch food items, herbal medicines, smoked meats, and much more.

The first Finca Market will be held at Imagine Restaurant on Sunday June 12th from 10am until noon. If you are interested in being a vendor, please email Melissa at melissa_goldsberry@yahoo.com asap. Tables will be provided and there is no charge to be a vendor.

Got vendors coming outa' the woodwork! A fella in Rivas has arranged for these products to be there: Mixed salad, arugula, basil, cilantro, oregano, celery, ½ lb bunch Asparagus, Pesto, Lentals, honey, liter olive oil y quizás egg plant.

Just got an email from a lady who's raising lamb and making her own cheeses. Ooh, are we gonna have fun this weekend or what?!

Normally, Roger and I hang out with beach friends after the SJDS market, it's our monthly social event...I'm thinking we can turn this market into something similar. After the work is done, it's time to play. How 'bouts after the market, we have a get together at an airy place in Granada (is there such a thing???). Hey Josh, you've got Sundays free, meet us down there, Jack's back in town, we could have a mini TRN get together...

That is why I keep an arms distance with mine and not sipping any thing when I open a new addition or a new post On TRN.

This crowd no longer gives coffee alerts and DDT is about the worst. with the old computer I had he still owes me about 10 keyboards.

And if I include Jonh and a few others on here, I would be a richer man.

Hey but that is great, it shows real progress Mil in a place that really needs leadership by showing how real life is. I hope that others see this and you know this is a gimmie society or at best a copy cat one.

Please pardon my getting off topic a bit.

Looks like we are going to be coming by to see what everyone has. Where is this restaurant located, on La Calzada?

Calle La Libertad, there's a pic of John Lennon's face on the wall outside.

Bring a small cooler if you want to take anything back with you, they'll be no shortage of choices on goodies! So far, I've made boursin cheese, blue cheese dressing, choc PB banana cakes and duck egg rolls...got plans to make up those cinnamon rolls you like so much, as well as jalapenos corn bread muffins and a Mediterranean inspired fish soup. Hasta domingo!

Sorry Catahoulafan, but chocolate and banana out rank cinnamon buns any day! I could eat dozens of those and convince myself that it won't make me fat.

3F, quit your worrying even if you did, we all on TRN would love you anyway.

IT is your mind connected to your fingers dancing over the keyboard with total recall of what you have learned and are learning here.

BTW when is the next installment of your B.I.L. coming?

New product quizás? We are experimenting with a duck andouille-style sausage tonight, Roger's smokin' the links as I type. If it's good enough, we'll bring to the Granada market for samples, if not my fella will have to eat it. We can always try again, t'aint no shortage of ducks!

Got 2 homemade ice creams made for this weekend, vanilla with chocolate chips and almonds, and jamocha shake. Hope folks come hungry!

I am either selling the full book about my bil at the farmers market, or sausage links made out of him.

Sell the book, that way you don't have to pay the family 3500 dollars for the life..

JW, you know I try to entice you all the time!
This one was a bit hard for me, seriously. My kitchen is my domain, don't enter without permission, good luck getting me to understand a misplaced dirty dish or a not wrung out scrubby. GET OUT! is the sign on my kitchen. I had to let my messy hubby in my space, to use my tools, and make a mess.......ACK!!!!

I love to get in the Galley with my children, hey you do this to the meat, you do that to the onions, you do this to the bread.....

I am a task Master and Commander on the Far side of the World, and if it turns out good we eat it, and if it turns out not so good we eat it anyway.

But my daughter Xena I have to watch like a hawk she goes overboard sometimes with the salt which I cannot stand, but that cook book you sent her, she sleeps with it and her cooking has improves greatly, none of her peers at school have one, and I know she packs it in her book bag.

    Thank You.

Roger says the Mediterranean inspired soup is a success, now if I can just keep him out of it until it cools so I can package it! This soup is chock full of corvina and manta ray, leeks, black olives, tomatoes, etc and a wee bit of anise to bring it all together. 100 cords for a pint container...see y'all Sunday in Granada!

Oh it looks lovely and no wonder you have to beat Roger with a stick to leave it alone.

Question Little Girl, can it be zapped in a micro wave to be heated up?

    What the h*ll's a microwave??? :P

Fish doesn't tend to do well in those fancy thingamajigs, maybe in a soup would be okay, but I really don't know. Tryin' to live low tech, hon!

I don't have one of those thimagigs either but I was just curious as many use them, my sister cannot live without hers.

She is like my mother constantly on the go and has no time much for home cooked meals. Her husband loves it when I go visit, because I love to get in the Galley too, and as you say play around with food.

I love cooking over charcoal too...
