Windows XP Virus Scan 2011 SCAM ALERT
I got the "XP Virus Scan 2011" scam virus yesterday.
Now I have had trouble with this one in the past and was able to stop it in it's tracks with control alt delete, task manager, stop the process and delete the file... However, the virus has evolved. It now takes over administrative control and accepts commands that are administrative as agreeing to the software. It shut me down in minutes.
Fortunately I didn't have any important files in my laptop yet and just fixed it with a clean instal of the operating system. Others may not be so lucky.
I got this virus looking for movies that Robert DeNiro was in from what would appear a safe site. Java started running and next thing you know I had it.
Everyone beware.
For anyone that don't know about this virus... It attacks your computer, tells you that you are infected and it will fight the attack after you register. It is not new and it is my understanding that if you do register the product they just take your money and leave you hanging. Some African country is doing it with no legal recourse for the victim. It has infected me several times in the past few years and it seems to keep evolving as a stronger virus.
