Default Our Dream Cruise just realized in the Mediterrean

Just returned with my wife from a 12 day cruise of the Mediterrean on the Ruby Princess Cruise Ship. The cruise started in Venice, Italy with port stops in Athens, Greece, Kusadasi, Turkey, Istanbul, Turkey, Mykonos Island, Greece, Naples, Italy, Rome, Italy, Florence, Italy, Monaco and it ended in Barcelona, Spain. It was a wonderful escape from reality. We ate like kings on the ship with its numerous restaurants and buffets. The room service on the ship was awesome. The ship has 4 swimming pools and a huge theatre screen were you sit on lounge chairs under the stars and watch top rate movies. The stateroom were we stayed was a junior suite with living room and private balcony with 4 chairs. The state room had two flat screen TV´s. Italy and Spain topped the list as our favorite countries. Of course our children stayed behind with family in Managua. We wanted peace and relaxacion from this trip. In one of the pics I was goofing off as Nero the Emperor.

Nice Dom, Some times ya need to take kind of a second Honeymoon alone to just "Get Away" for a break in the monotonous of the business world no matter how big or small the problems.

I am right now in the middle of brush fires with the pending of the opening of the fishing season. God repair parts have not arrived that I ordered months ago, ENEL coming and going like a screen door slamming in a bad wind storm, my mechanics working double shifts, I could go on and on.

Nice presentation of ya'll's get away. Glad ya got to do it.

Sounds like a great cruise ... comfort scenery, and history all in one.
    Life's different here ... It's a whole 'nother pace.

Looks and sounds great. The one cruise I took was a little different, our room looks like it would of fit into your bath.

How awesome for you, Eddie!!! Sooo, you gotta tell me more 'bout the food. Did you get a chance to eat in Greece, away from the boat? I've always been fond of their food culture!

Sounds like the kind of cruise I would want to go on. I would enjoy Spain and Italy the most too. I am a huge history buff. All the countries you visited were part of the Roman Empire at one time.

Yes, we ate at a local restaurant in Athens, we in reality did not order anything traditional, we ordered fried fish, rice, steamed vegatables and a green salad with black olives and tomatos. The beer was a lager beer called "Mythos" which went well with the meal. But remember you paid all this money to eat on the boat and besides, the cruise ship changes their menu and adds traditional dishes in the country that we visited. At the buffet restaurant they had greek pastries and those thick tortilla wraps with chicken, cucumber sauce which was pretty good. The ship had 24 hour room service. One of the two buffet restaurants on board the ship was open 24 hours. So if you had the desire for a club sandwich with french fries just pick up the room phone for room service and they be knocking on your door within 15 minutes. Here is a pic of a club sandwhich that came in through room service.

What did you do? Find a bucket of money washed up on the beach?

Just kidding, I like the way you tell it.

anyone try this for a cruise? from ehow.com:

    •
1 Go to several cruise websites such as Cruise, Sky Auction or Cruise Only and pick a cruise you would like to go on. Pick the port, ship, number of days and destinations.

2 After you have picked the exact ship, date and ports you want, register on the Cruise Compete website.

3 Once you have given your quote to Cruise Compete, you will get quotes from about 10 other competing agencies.

4 If they can't beat your price, they will usually give you free travel insurance, which can be worth several hundred dollars. It's good to have travel insurance for any cruise you go on. You never know what will happen.

    • 5 Book your cruise with the agency you feel best suits your needs. You can always check out the different travelagencies on the Internet before you book with them.
