    Default Nicaragua Betrayed

I have from time to time heard mention the role President J. Carter played in Nicaragua ( mostly negative) but did not fully understand and maybe still don´t but I came across an article written in 2000 that had many references of the book Nicaragua Betrayed - A. Somoza/J. Cox
Good or bad you decide but it´s out there for pleasure, or not @ http://www.enterstageright.com/archi...0100carter.htm

Indeed. I think I'd heard it before about the book's publisher and co-author being on KAL 007 when it was shot down.

This part disagrees with everything we've been told about Somoza:
Thus, in Somoza's Nicaragua, unlike Communist Daniel Ortega's Nicaragua (who Carter helped into power), free markets, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, and free elections were the order of the day. Even as revolutionaries abused these privileges to get at Somoza's throat; Somoza, yet, stood by these American ideals.
On further research, another passenger killed on KAL007 was U.S. Rep. Larry McDonald.

Interesting book. amazing how the left is always whining about ``illegal`` activities on the part of the US government. As this book points out, how ``legal`` was it for the Carter to organize an international arms embargo of a sovereign nation? Contrary to popular myth, Samoza D. did not have US military support and had spent little money on modernizing his army, never suspecting a Soviet asault with Carter backing! Like the south vietnamese, he learned the hard way that the US is not a trustworthy ally.

I read another book about the destruction of Rhodesia, the most talented nation in Africa. The Rhosesian army, black and white, was winning on the battlefield hands down, but British and Danish aid to the Soviets won the day and brought the world the wonders of Mugabe.

Yep, Carter was the second worse president in my lifetime, with LBJ beind the worst. That is, until W. and obama came along!
