in the past i was told that this plural, informal form of "you" was used seldom and only a few countries in south america and spain utilize it. i am wondering if i am hearing it in rural nic. is it a verb conjugation that i need to pay attention to?

Nicaraguans rock the singular version of vosotros--the "vos" form, but nobody, but nobody uses vosotros.
Soy el chele mono.
Yes, Nicaragua is one of those few countries. Vos! is sort of like saying, Dude!
haha I remember the first time I figured out that they used vos instead of tu and I thought the same thing...I remember in high school learning about vosotros but what is this whole vos thing? 'Course they teach Mexican Spanish in California
Off topic but you might have noticed that out your way they tend to drop the "s"s in words so "Vamos a Rivas" sounds like "bamo arriba" that is sort of paisano-country talk according to my Managua born and bred wife![]()

Vos and Vosotros are totally 2 different things, they were both used in Spain and Latin America about 200 years ago or more It is an different Dialect.. Vosotros means Ustedes(You Plural) and Vos means Tu(You Singular). In Spain people still use Vosotros and the ancient Spanish..
For Example: Vosotros comeis Pan(You eat bread)plural...Old Spanish
Ustedes comen Pan(modern spanish)plural... Modern Spanish
Vos Estad conmigo(you are with Me) Singular Old Spanish
Tu estas conmigo(you are with Me)Singular Modern Spanish
Dios es Amor!
From my limited book learning, I also found out that in various Latin countries it changes from the formal and informal usage. Already mentioned I have never heard it used here in Nicaragua, not once. But back in Canada I over heard a conversation one Spanish lady was having about how badly other Latin counties have ruined the Spanish language and one of the example she gave was the non use of the word vostros. The other complaint she had was inverting the V and B sound as well as dropping the S´s on the end of words.
Here in the real world they're shutting Detroit down.
Vosotros is kind of like Ya'll
I seem to remember El Doc talking about the use of Vos towards him and he implied it may have been sort of racial.
