With Irish and Nicaraguan heritage, I thought it was time my ten year old daughter learned the valuable skill of smashing out windows. One never knows when one's offspring will be caught up in a political clash and need to follow the herd.
The practice windows were three old windows removed from my garage. Our neighbor recently recycled some windows and told me the recyclers give you more money if you separate the glass from the frame before bringing it in. I could have just whacked at them on my own, but why not have fun with it and do something you may never have the chance to do again?
So I leaned the windows against the wall and set up a makeshift table seven yards out. The first lesson was shooting BBs at the glass. The results were slow. They only make tiny holes. But we had fun.
Next we used chunks of brick and concrete, with much more satisfying results.
Then we used a crowbar and hammer, and finished them off.
And now she knows some good ways to wreak havoc on a place.
