We received the keys to our new home today, December 31, 2011

On the very last day of the year 2011 we received the keys to our home. The home is located in a very nice and quiet residential area in the city of Downey, California which is about 14 miles southeast of Los Angeles. We as a family strongly believe that this was a blessing from God to have given us again the opportunity to be homeowners. Attached are three pics of todays event, one getting the keys from my real estate agent, the other carrying my wife through the front door of the home and the last one is all of us together inside the living room.

What happenned to the hotel in Chinandega?

I know Downey very well. My father went to USC and we lived in Downey while he did it. My father worked at the Bob's Big Boy. I wonder if that is still there. I have family all over LA; Bell Gardens, Norwalk, Santa Fe Springs, and Downey.

You look so happy, so you must be blessed. Things seem to go pretty easy for you though... Makes me wonder if you are Connected or something lol.

Hey Randude, you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned insane house prices. I paid $328k for this 1400 square foot home with luck has 4 bedrooms and two baths. The property taxes alone comes to about 4k per year. But believe it or not it is still cheapér to buy than to pay rent. I was renting a two story apartment-townhome and was paying $1350 per month. The rent also included just the water and the trash, the rest of utilities are extra. The mortgage payment to this house will be $1139 per month which is not bad.

We are actually downsizing, in chinandega I had a 3600 square foot home with a back yard the size of a football field. And the property taxes for this home in Chinandega was only $200 dollars per year. But it is the location that counts, I rather be in the good ol USA close to family and friends.
