Boeing plays cute with airspace...

787 was doing flight trials yesterday... This is a little too cute of a stunt to be playing with airspace .. But as long as no harm done I guess...

IF it is true...this is a stunt that is soooooo expensive as to defy imagination....as in explain to shareholders?

Nope -- true. Boeing did the same thing with the 748.

As to p*issing off shareholders? Nope. The airframe and systems need to go through the testing (in this case it was for extended ETOPS) so the flight plan filed and/or flown is pretty much irrelevant. Some PR for airplane geeks but nothing more.

Yes.. I read it was an 18 hour circuit to either test a specific airframe or a certai 787 config.. Not sure which.. Apparently a new 747 air frame was doing the same gymnastics over the pacific at the same time...

DOH.. Right there on the image.. 19hrs, 2 min..

That airplane (787) is going to be the best commercial aircraft and one that all the others are modeled after once they work all the bugs out.

I was on that project right before I went on my wild adventure.
