    Default fenosa 10 months and counting

    a friend back home found an article that ranks fenosa as the leader for being the worst managed company in the world. wow. quite an honour, but no surprise. trying not to put a negative slant on them, but i need to end the hoop jumping. does anyone run a simple solar panel system that would be adequate for a fridge, laptop and a couple of lights? i am not wanting to put out over $2000 for the time being. seems it is my best option at this point. fenosa now wants me to cough up $6000 for a larger transformer after they saw and approved the existing one and all the wires in place. they told me 2 weeks ago it was ready to go. they say they will reimburse me the $6000 once it is connected. hmmmmmm.

    One thing I am seeing is Infrastucture. Wait a bit and see what happens. My place used to have a goat path to it, right now they are finishing a cement road.

    Fridge -> Propane

    All others - China diesel generator with a bank of inverters and batteries bought in country..

    Even being gouged you are maybe 3k to 4K from a full set up.

    If you stick with "Grid tie" series of inverters you can scale (or even isolate certain circuits) the entire system.

    yes, a propane fridge! that would knock of 450 watts right there. i will review your link. my estimate is under 100 watts for the rest of my needs. perhaps there is an alternate solution.

    I sell and install systems in Ontario and have enjoyed reading of your earthbag adventures. I use these guys and they will ship anywhere in the world. You can use their tools to design what you need. A small 600 watt panel system 3x200, 1000 watt charge controller with a 1800 watt inverter and 2x 225 amp hour 6volt batteries should do what you need. You can probably get golf cart batteries in nica.
