    Default Milking the coconut video

I was looking for ways to milk a coconut and come up with this video...

    1. Look at the way that guys peels the husk off of the coconut with that sharp stick sticking up? Not sure I would advise this method.

    2. Look at the guy open the coconut with a machete in his hand. I would advise that either.

Let me tell you now, don't fool with no coconut milking. Take a look around here and notice people missing pieces of their finger, coconut milking accidents.

I need to get some one to video me doing it, almost OSHA approved, I like my fingers.

Take that coconut milk and use it in place of water when cooking your rice, now that is nice.

I've seen guys husk a coconut in less than 15 seconds. Machete it one good chop on one side, pop the blade out, flip it over and give it another good chop, leave the blade in, then bend the machete blade and it pops half the husk loose. Then you pull the coconut out. They will hold the coconut in one hand and then do the horizontal machete swing to take a chip off the shell, then use the machete point and cut a hole into the meat. The small hole makes for very little mess when drinking / pouring the milk.

I've made the mistake of collecting brown coconuts before. Those are "old" and if it makes a sloshing noise its to late. Must be a big green one straight off the tree or that just hit the ground.

I meant to get a good video of someone skilled doing it, very impressive but easy to see how people loose fingers. I worry even when I'm just holding one steady on a flat surface.

I have "seen" people fly the Space Shuttle, don't mean I can do it.

Getting better with the coconut, can do it with 3 chops now. I have a friend, an old guy can give them one whack and skin them.

That's the Polynesian method brought to Hawaii from the Marquesas via Tahiti. Sadly, not many people left in the Islands that can do it.

Well the method they use is so close to the nads that it is in effect reducing them via natural selection. One wrong move and you are no longer a breeder.
