I saw this article earlier and concluded that it almost had to be from a large swordfish.

    Big huh?

There is a lot of sword fishing done around here and those boys get pretty big. Imagine how big an eye would be on a 1,000 pound fish!

    Bigger than Biden's grin!

We fish for them in really deep water like 1,000 feet (daytime)....300 feet at night, with cayalume sticks above rigged squid.

So these boys have big eyes as they spend most of their time in really deep water with little light.

Anyway...thanks for asking but my eye's are both intact for now.

That thing is as big as a softball.... Someone speculated a squid? I never noticed any eyes on squid before.

Here is a swordfish fishing video

I was over on the West Coast of Mexico, South of Puerto Escondido, fished with some guys a few days. caught lot of fish, but I wanted something big. They took me, we set out jug lines and within an hour we had big fish. Bill fish in a small Panga, not fun.

I thought you were correct all along Tom. You fish that area and should know what you are talking about.

Swordfish is what they were fishing in the movie Perfect storm, right? Never seen or tasted one personally.

Yeah, they were swordfishing oin the Perfect Storm.

Also a very tasty fish. My next door neighbor fishes for them and does well. It is not improbable for him to stop over with 10 pounds of fish for us.

And swordfish is one of the best tasting fish around.

I agree 100%. Fresh Alaska Salmon, Swordfish, and Yellow-fin Jack. Three very different types of fish, but I love them all.
