THE NEIGHBORHOOD.....

To be called a "Has Been" I must surmise, is much Greater than to be called a "Nevah Been"... JW...
I know....I sent a copy of this to my brother and sister and the Title was "SHIT"
This is just down the beach from me and one of the stupidest concepts I have ever seen.
I can not imagine hauling a woman who wants to stay in a $300 a night room in a butt pounding panga with her getting to the island and walking a mile down a muddy path while screaming....."This is a swamp Morris". No motorized vehicles and no roads and they have no dock!
Stupidest f**king business plan on this planet.

Insane....
Life's different here ... It's a whole 'nother pace.
$400 a night wow!! I don't see a beach there on that video. So what else is there to do on the Island? Any kind of snorkeling excursions, jet ski rentals, para sailing?? Just curious on what a person is going to do??
$300 per night per person!
Including food.
Check out the rest of their site and you can see diving and fishing opportunities.
My favorite quote is this:
"Jimmy, a part-time fisherman who earns additional income by taking tourists out snorkeling on his boat, says he is happy because the development will bring rich travelers to the island, creating more jobs for the local economy. Asked if he thinks the resort will spoil the island’s rustic aesthetics, Jimmy shrugs his shoulders indifferently."
First.... there is nobody named "Jimmy" who takes you fishing.
Second...does anyone in his right mind think that "Jimmy" understands the concept of spoiling the islands "RUSTIC AESTHETICS".
"Jimmy" did not have a comment as "he" did not understand the f**king question and if he did understand it would have shrugged his shoulders and said..."So...Meeester David...we go fish now?".
Life's different here ... It's a whole 'nother pace.
Good story JW...
I have to sort of agree with Tom, but with an exception.. you need a place for the new money to stay that will be developing the rest of the island. I imagine Las Vegas started out a bit like this when Bugsy built the Flamingo.
And as far as snorkeling is concerned, all you need is a mask and flippers. My hotels in Hawaii charge like $5 per hour to rent snorkeling gear, but Snorkel Bob off the resort charges like $15 a week. Too much to carry in luggage in my opionion.

What is "conscious living"? They talk about food a bunch. Will the place be full of fat hypochondriacal 50 year olds?
Or is it a front for Congressmen to try out the newest and freshest girls?
disregard
Video #1...
Business plan => "Dude stuff happ'n here" ( I think I heard it 3 times)
Am I right in the assumption that they put a top dollar resort on the windward edge of an island???

Dude !!!.... Its a Canal !!! Can you Dig it ??
Salt water is pretty good at killing heebys and jeebies. I could see bringing a tube with you but fins are huge. I always end up buying SO MUCH shit on vacation that I have had to buy more luggage for the trip home. One time on the big island I needed a suit case just for all the crap we bought at the Macadamia nut factory.
I know you are a surfer, but do you ever boogie board? I like to get on a board with snorkel and fins too. You never miss a wave and when you catch it you can use the fins for lift off. I wouldn't do it in high surf though.
Nice to see you posting again. I still dream of ending up in your little town, soon as I can find a way to make a living or retire there.
