Prices ARE great in Nicaragua. I spent some time in CR on the tail end of this trip, and prices there are an eye-opener.

It's not only about prices though, it was great to drive on paved and well-lit roads, and the infrastructure was nicer. Nothing smoked, no trash on the road shoulders, and everyone had two headlights, and even . . . . tail lights! Road from the airport to San Jose is now six lanes.

Still, that hotel in San Jose that I used to stay at for $36 was now $80 (double occupancy price plus two breakfasts, and completely remodeled and really nice, but still . . .). Great meals and great service every time, but I paid for it.
