    Corruption and drug trafficking

Ticos filed suit to stop Nicas digging canals (not comrade Wang's) at the border. They saw it on satellite photos. The Nicas are dregging. Three of today's LCT TRN Daily News links report it.

'Corruption and drug trafficking' supporting the entangled schoolgirls seems irrelevant? Well, corruption OK, that's standard procedure throughout Latin America. But both countries don't have the levels of narco-infiltration that the rest of Central America & Mexico have, IMO. Nor the raw demand of the industrial North.

"The Nicaraguan media are distorting the conscience."

Majority of communications media in Nicaragua (in the hands of Ortega-ism)

Only El Comandante and his pal Rosario! Only El Comandante and his pal Rosario! Only El Comandante and his pal Rosario! Only El Comandante and his pal Rosario!

    "Sure, most of the time."

    "Closed Society"

Somoza: "They're only bands of delinquents."

    "No to dictatorship!"

Ortega: "They're only bands of delinquents."

    "No to dictatorship!"

They're totally changing the educational system...

"Now your children can speak English while repressing!"

Educational model in 20 years, in the 5th re-election of Daniel.

    China Story

I'm the mere beast in making canals...
I already have the possible route for the Nica canal...
I have more money than Bill Gates and Carlos Slim combined...
I have more than five thousand people working on the canal...
I assure you that large ships will sail the canal in December, 2019...
And all the Nicaraguan people will live happily ever after!

Continuing to work on my spanish, and this one had me scratching my head a bit... until I realized he was substituting 'L's' where 'R's' should have been. Ah-so!

    Then I chuckled.

All little children love a fairy tale with a happy ending.

My wife has always used the term "tu cuento chino" to mean you're lying, usually a rather long, story-telling sort of lie.

I too puzzled over 'la mera bestia'. It's common to hear 'Que bestia!' and tho context can be positive or negative, it always refers to something that has startled or amazed. So I'd have Wang saying, in his dialect, at the start "I'm truly amazing at building canals."

I printed it and have been showing it to my Nica friends, everyone is getting a big laugh . .

Everyone is hoping against hope that the canal happens, even with the lop sided distribution of revenue, it will still be a huge boon to the country.

And a badly needed source of international respect for Nicaragua. . . .

There will be a market for my apples, strawberries, and raspberries -as well as my coffee.

    Ortega without his constitutional reforms

    Ortega with the constitutional makeup

    • Wig of the indefinitely reelected dictator
    • Glasses of "direct democracy" (he decides directly, with Shamu, of course)
    • Military uniform in all its condition
    • Corporate mustache (allied with capital)

Probably a reference to this: http://www.nicaraguadispatch.com/new...al-system/8320

The ruling party is embarking on an aggressive campaign to overhaul the constitution in a way that will legitimize the administration’s previous oversteps, pave the way for President Daniel Ortega’s indefinite perpetuance in power, and replace Nicaragua’s representative democracy with the first lady’s version of “direct democracy.”
