    The condescending little game

To renew expiring cedulas, pay the C$300, and they have until later December 31st of this year!

The lord and master of your lives and property has decided to have mercy, and postpone the renewal of cedulas until 2018!

Listen, Don Wang, we're almost there with canal construction and nothing about contracting Nicaraguan workers. In the unions there are thousands of workers waiting for jobs...

But you don't have to worry, little Luis Barbosa, you just have to work with me!

Between what a politician says and what he does lay a world of difference. Ortega's no different from politicians everywhere. And so it has ever been.

"Mi Negro . . ." interesting, but, of course, American English today translates that differently. (The sense of the appellation is not the same in Spanish.)

To parody that Pope Francisco played matchmaker with Raol & Barack might be hard to fit into a 'toon that would fly in Latin America.

Is to say, "No comment" considered a comment?

yea, but, that is pure Nicaraguense, one of the things admirable about this culture, calling things as you see them. Hey Chele! = Hey white boy! La gorda = the fat woman, El Viejo = the old man, La Negra = the black girl, etc, etc...

and they are willing to say this right to the persons face, it is not a behind the back comment....

    seems a lot more honest

Good observations! Nothing breeds racism more than cowardly hypocrisy that only disparages another behind their back, or from the anonymity of a mob.

The military before Ortega's "reforms" (Military, fatherland and freedom)

What was left of it after Ortega's "reforms" (Personal bodyguards, Ortega forever)

It's rarely said in a demeaning way. The taxi driver says adonde vas negro? Because he doesn't know the passengers name. Nicas are no more or less bigoted than anybody else

Been busy, sorry for skipping a bunch of cartoons. Here is the final one for 2014.

    Chinese Story

I be just a canal making beast. I already have the possible canal route. I having more money than Bill Gates and little Carlos Slim combines.

I having more than five thousand persons working on the canal. I assure you that giant ships will ply the canal in December, 2019. And all the Nicaraguans will live happily ever after!
