    Default Death of the band shell

    I fondly remember sitting on the edge of the band shell on my first visit in 2004.

    We have driven in the square on every visit I think and really could connect with it as it was similar to the band shell in Gage park in Hamilton. I spent many summers in Gage park from the time I was 12 through 18...

    So it must have been 2005 then..

    I thought the thing had been standing since the big man's visit in 83.. Guess not..

    The way I undertand it, the plaza in front of the band shell was constructed for the Pope's visit, and the visit is commemorated with the obelisk. The shell was constructed later to face the plaza.
