Default Back in the Rock Biz??

One of the guys who has done lots of work for me over the years was by this morning and said some white people want some rock for a breakwater. Only big rock I have in quantity is at the back of the property, we can get a truck back there but it is going to be a chore and no doubt a flat tire or 2.

Just sitting here and decided to put it on paper to see what I would need to charge. 3 men per day on my end, truck with 3 men. These people are going to faint when they hear the costs. I think what I am going to do is tell them so many cords a load and they handle everything, including the liability if someone gets hurt. A truck load of rock is just a drop in the bucket, to build what they are talking about will take many, many, loads.

Right now I am waiting on Dirt and I am paying 500 cords a load for that and it will get loaded onto the truck with a front end loader. Rock is slow business and getting a truck in and out of the back will be pricey and time consuming.

My guy was wanting me to go out and look the people, told him better they come here so they can see what I am talking about.

Rock buyers never showed yesterday, see if they show today, I have to get out for some animal feed so maybe stop and see them. Spent part of yesterday trying to figure out how to get a truck into the back. Going to have to dig up at least one tree to make a road, there is no path of least resistance, the truck men will not be happy and that means they will up their price.

I am not even going to try to price the rock hauled. Sell it to them on the ground, if they want it they can manage the logistics.

The rock ain't like a pig that you have to feed. I can let it age a little more if needed.

Hauling the rock is harder than talking about it.
