Default Are You Ready For Some Football?

This year's Nicaraguan American-style football season started last Saturday. 2 games were held at UNAN college in Managua. The Managua Lions beat the Managua Minotaurs 14 to 12, and the Wolves beat the Iron Wolves 10 to 8. This season is a departure from the last 10 years as the fellas are training the new, young guys in an 8 on 8 man game.

This coming Saturday, August 9th, games will be held again at UNAN. 2pm start for the first game, Wolves vs. Minotaurs, followed by Lions vs. Iron Wolves. There are two fields at UNAN, just ask the guard which field is being used, and come join the fun!

Where exactly is this for us country dwellers who are used to following cow paths?

I might give it a shot.

Just zoom in on the map, the campus is in the south western section of the city, where Pista Suburbana and Pista Jean Paul Genie come together. Roger and I are heading down there, got some other folks joining us, as well. Even a few TRN members...

Here's 20 some pix from today's football fun in Managua at UNAN. Gotta do this again!!!

    Lobos vs. Minotaurs

One of my favorites... the fella's were gettin' rowdy!

    Just a little beefcake...

Miss Beth and I were thinking that a calendar of the guys would be a good idea...I could take the pix and she could be my assistant at something, anything, whatever... but I doubt the hubbys will let us.

A nasty blow to his knee.

2nd game of the day, Leónes de Managua vs. Iron Wolves

Couple of TRN members hangin' out.

    Final scores:
    Minotaurs vs. Wolves 12-12
Managua Lions vs. Iron Wolves 14-0

That was some surprisingly good football, and It was nice to get together.

It's lonely here in the north.

Jon, great to see you again as well, even if we didn't have much time to talk. Good luck trying to get me away from taking pix of football players!!! Thanks so much for the goodies you brought, and I'll be sure to let you know which game we go to next. Not sure I can swing this weekend, if not, then definitely the next Saturday!

Yes, definitely some good football! What looked like a cracked rib, one guy was out with a knee injury, 2 guys ejected from the game... now that's my idea of an afternoon of entertainment!
