Default How to Wire money from Canada to BanPro

Well for our land purchase we had to wire a deposit to have the fellow hold the parcel until we can arrange a flight for Chilo.

After a couple mis-starts we got all the info needed and Wired Sunday (One bank chain is open on Sundays in Canada)

You need 4 pieces of information

The recipient’s address. (Difficult) and their BanPro account number (easy)

The Bank’s address. (Less Difficult, but still difficult.)

    Your address (the easy part)

The SWIFT code for BanPro -> BAPRNIMA

    Details

Exchange (We paid $1.10CDN per $US) and a fee of $30CDN. This fee is the same from $1 - $9,999.

Recipient paid $7.50 and $10 in succession (I assume this has something to do with their US bank/BanPro transfer schema, I can only guess.)

Funds were received at 10AM Monday, We hit send at 2:30 PM Sunday.

The names stays in the system for 90 days so, step and repeat for the remainder. We are a little more at ease that Chilo does not need to haul cash down there now.

We just did a $10K wire on Friday, pretty straight forward too. SWIFT for BDF, address of bank (something like Casa Matriz, Avenida de Bolivar, Managua, NCA), and account # of recipient. We also had the cedula of the recipient and stuck it on there, hoping the bank wouldn't disburse the funds to any Joe Blow. We didn't need the recipient's address.

Wire cost us $45 and recipient cost was estimted at $30

I don't know when it was received, but I haven't heard anything, and I would have, so I assume the usual one day . . .money available the next morning.

Cheaper flights to MGA, I snagged a RT for $645 total on United,, mid October, surprised. Short flights too, decent hours,, The one I;m going back on today requires me to sleep on the IAH floor. . .as I remember, it's carpeted.

The bank would not process the wire without the recipient's address. I should mention that a "Reason" had to be stated for the wire transfer as well.

The fellow emailed us a screen shot of his BDF account

We are getting hits with Avianca/Taca via San Salvadore @ $648 CDN - all fees in which equates to $580 US..

No US stops which is a must have for her - Homeland security scares the bejebus out of her.. Depart 4:40 PM here and a return of 3:30 PM the next week.

Arrival and departure in MGA are OK.. 9:3o PM ish in, 6:30AM ish out..

Well, Alfredo's money got there, but the bank wanted more info to release it.

Full Name, passport number, telephone number, of the sender.

They didn't ask for a reason, but anticipating the request thanks to your email, sent along a short description of the work performed.

I was able to send them my stuff without issue, but since Shelley actually made the transfer they may want hers. Unfortunately, she is not available during the work day.

Who knows,, they may just need to fill in some blanks on the paperwork. I'll be down there tomorrow night in any case.

Remember.. I am in a different country - Different rules...

Worked with a Nice fellow 15 years ago at Owens Brockway Ohio.. He said once "I had been to Canada once - Seemed like an entirely different country"

    Doh !!!

My Bad - The $648 turned to $668 at purchase time AND it was USD.. So it worked out to almost exactly the same price as Expedia.ca - About $745 ..

But it is still cheaper than the AA, Con or Delta flights from T.O. and it includes 2 bags at $50... Which in showbiz speak, is "a $50 value, included at no charge"

Hey, LCT, any chance you can find Tiger Sauce in your neck of the woods? Roger just booked a flight from here to Texas (many stop overs to get a cheap rate). My fella ain't been on a plane in almost 11 years... why do I get the feeling he's gonna have some issues with TSA? Guess I'll wait for that phone call demanding a ransom to release him...

Bill, I am not quite sure about the point that you making, but I can tell you that for flights between Canada and Nicaragua, Avianca allows two free pieces of check-in luggage per person for a total of 70 pounds.

Was making jest of the current norm of $25/bag...

The link from the ticket to the baggage conditions stated 2 @ 50lbs - 23Kg..

Bill, here is a link from Avianca´s website about check-in baggage allowance from Flightsbetween North America and Central America. It clearly states that Adults on Economy Class are allowed 2 pieces of check-in luggage with a maximum combined weight of 32kg (70 lbs).

I was wondering how this works since I'll be doing something like this in the near future if everything works out.

    When do you arrive?

BTW the bank transfer went without a hitch, and quickly,, just a matter of providing the information the bank wanted (or indeed, needed in this strange world, to satisfy all the money laundering requirements).

I'm going back to the US on the 15th, . . You have to move from the one terminal to the other for the LCI flight, right ??

I'll try to get there a day early. . .

What time do you arrive ?

I'm coming back on the 25th of October, fast trip.

    The remainder was wired today.

Chilo signed the papers this afternoon. (11AM appointment morphed into 3PM).

She did not call me until 5:30. I went and did the transfer which should all clear Monday.

For TD, wire services cease Friday at 4 - Resume Monday at 9..

Was still $30 cdn fee but exchange was $1.14265... So we took a hit there..
