Default A hopping music season apparently

One thing that Chilo was telling me on her trip debrief is that Romeo Santo and Prince Royce are doing gigs here and there across Nica this fall - Apparently Masaya, Managua and Leon.

Also, for the Gringos, Michael Bolton is supposedly playing at the Ruben Dario theatre as well..

I do not know the dates, but I bet Google does (None of these are my cup of tea)

    damn...

really, I swear to Gawd, that everyday for my first 8 years in Nica, I would hear a Bee Gees song, some how some way, coming out of someone's radio or stereo and try to explain to a Nica that nobody listens to them in the US anymore and the looks of astonishment are amazing

Disco in America died circa 1980, but lived happily on in much of the rest of the world. It was like time travel listening to Nica radio for the first time. Even modern Spanish pop/rock draws heavily from the sounds of the '70s. And not in a bad way, either.

Chilo took back a 16GB USB stick from one BIL to another from the recent trip.

A good 25% of the 14GB of music on there was Disco

Some how a mirror of that USB was put on the house server.. Wonder how that happened

i dont know that i would recognize a beegees song if i heard it, so i dont know if ive heard them....but i hear Celine Dion pretty much everytime i go to a grocery store, or mall, etc. and its always the same 3 songs of hers.

Also, not so much anymore, but every day last year i heard 1 of 3 dancehall songs by the same group. at some point in the day a car would pass with it blasting, or i would walk by a house with it blasting, or a business with the large speakers out blasting. i have no idea what the songs are but i remember clearly how they go.

    one is
ben' ovah ben' ovah ben ovah......back wayyyyyy back wayyyyy....take it take it take it take it take it etc etc.

    another is
wine up wine up winnnnne up. wine up wine up winnnnne up...etc

    and the 3rd one is
gyal make yo body jump jump jump jump jump (repeat a million times)

thank god the love of those songs seems to have cooled off now.

I LIKED SOME OF THE Bee Gees music...

But that Blasted 'Air Supply" music was all the same to me and I got fast wore out with it.

At this stage in my life if it is not "Golden Oldies" of the music I had growing up.... I DON'T WANT TO HEAR THE MODERN SHIT!
To be called a "Has Been" I must surmise, is much Greater than to be called a "Nevah Been"... JW...
