    Default Manuel Guillén's cartoons 2015

"Independence was for there to be filthy rabble, not marching sheep." - Salomon de la Selva

"We are not citizens, we are patrons of the Commander." "We don't want freedom, we want food." "Workers of the Chamuco state march so they can order us."

"They say we're 'Christian, Socialist, and United'." "Here we live pretty well." "Ortega and Shamu after the flood." "Long live Ortega and Shamu forever."

Poll results - the graph (we're doing well!)

Speculative illusion of the grand canal

    Misgoverning of Ortega

More work, more education, more contracts (for associated businessmen), more health, more development, more Ortega

Corrupt populist socialism says, "See if you can help me with some little dollars to change this heavy 'little model' that flopped..."

Corrupt state capitalism says, "The 'little model' you want to change for this, the little dollars, is going to be difficult..."

Now a crime to take pics of empty store shelves in Venezuela.

That will solve the problem of no soap!

    From the article:
" . . .Most of the shortages in Venezuela are driven in part by the country's tight currency controls, which make it hard to get dollars at a subsidized rate for imports while creating a thriving black market for currency. As a result, the country either has the most expensive Happy Meal in the world ($27 the official exchange rate) or the cheapest (90 cents at the black market rate) . . ."

Could someone with better math skills, and more experience, extrapolate this to what the hookers are charging? I don't eat many Happy Meals .....
I get a factor of 30 using the Happy Meal example, so if a hooker charges $50 (in Bolivars), her price, if you have dollars to exchange on the black market, should be $1.67 ??
With the 67% inflation rate, that price would decrease by the minute

    "$1.67!!!!! I'll come back tomorrow".

I hate to say it but while first reading the above post....my mind went down the same track....from hamburgers to hookers.

And there is nothing wrong with Venezuelan women....I mean it is not like going to Korea.

    Does Spirit fly to Caracas?
    Life's different here ... It's a whole 'nother pace.

I read somewhere Venezuela was subsidizing Barbie dolls for Christmas and they could be bought in Caracas for $2.50 US.

glad they have their priorities straight, might be using newspaper to wipe, but at least they got Barbie

Ortega's strategy for 2015 (illustrated version)

Banish habits that don't contribute to the solidity of the party's project. "Here, only habits by order of Daniel and his companion Rosario!"

Work together for the Grand Canal to be "appreciated" by all Nicaraguan families. "Land not for sale" "So you'll learn to appreciate!"

We've left behind "the darkness of an oppressive, chauvinist, and dismissive culture." "Now I'm in command!"

Henceforth speaking to the people "with the voice of D.O.S."

The only voice audible here! (Well, also Chamuca's)

The fluctuating route of the Grand Canal: expression of a great scam, born in the drunkenness of power.

    "Better spin that way!"

I'm surprised that Manuel didn't put the Cuban flag upside down. If you flip it over, the peak of the star points down.
Subtle, but a major sign of disrespect.
He probably didn't know about it.

He supposedly lives in Miami, I would expect he's aware of the symbolism.

This Assembly's economic commission can't come here and lower fuel and energy prices just because the cost of oil is through the floor...

We can't be left "hanging by the brush"!

And this, what is it, Papi?

How can I explain it to you? It's the symbol of the new revolutionary values of the Demon's state.
