Coyotepe

According to the viaNica website, Coyotepe is open daily from 8:00 to 5:00. Does anyone know if this includes Saturday's? We are thinking about visiting this coming weekend and want to make sure it will be open.

Also, can you drive up to the fortress or will it require some hiking to get there? Some of our older team members can't do a lot of walking.

I remember well taking cab rides Up the hills at Belo Horizonte Costa Rica and walking down the following mornings to San Jose...

Those walks for a Swamp Boy DOWN the hill I had thought was gone be the easiest...

But do ya remember when ya was young and going thru the regimen of exercises of wanting to be an American Football Player in school and the following day had muscles that hurt, really hurt, that ya didn't even know ya had?

Almost think I would rather walk and strain going up than coming down.... Man, my leg and feet muscles and tendons hurt like Billery Clinton.. A Bitch...

Ive been there on a weekend recently.
No one was there when we went on the weekend, so we walked around ourselves, and towards the end a "worker" found us wandering the area and told us it was $2 per person entrance fee (even though we were just about to leave). it was worth it though because he unlocked the lower level for us and had a light to give us a tour.

The times we have gone during the week, no one was there to charge us money but they had workers there running a small pulperia.

You can drive right up to the top no problem, and park right inside the fortress.

Spoke with our bus driver and interpreter.

Bus driver said cars/taxis can go to the top, but there is no place to turn the bus around so we would have to walk up.

Interpreter said that she had been there once and had no desire to ever go back. She said the oppressive feeling in the place was overwhelming.

Looks like if I go, it will have to be with a smaller group or by myself.

Sounds like your interpreter has bad memories from the war or something. I had the same thing happen when I stopped in Condega the first time with my wife. She broke out crying but worked her way through it.
Everybody else will love the 360 degree view. I did skip the dungeon tour because I didn't have a flashlight. Besides, dungeons remind me of a computer class I took in the basement of Cal State San Berdoo....

And must we mention the name of the Hildabeast in polite society?

I grew up in San Bernardino. Nice place way back then,,, not so nice now.
Went to Pacific High, then the JC, then over to UCR. UCR was tiny then.

High schools were segregated, all the blacks went to San Bernardino High.
Map they used to determine school boundaries looked like a ragged saw blade.


World gets smaller every day.
