We visited Masaya today, bought some gifts in the market which was pretty quiet for being Christmastime. Visited Zepeda's guitar shop, then Volcan Masaya.

Estelí's newest skyscraper. I hardly recognize this place after a five year absence.

Pic looks like its going to be a large hotel. They are building a big hotel on Bluefields Bay. Looked almost done when I was there last. Have to wonder if the investment was made because of the canal, the road being finished, or because of the tourism possibility. I just don't see many money travelers passing through there so wondering how it will do.

MY guess, forced savings (i.e. there is no place else to put the money). If you leave it in the bank it will be dribbled away or stolen, so better to buy real estate. 2 I know of in Esteli are old tobacco money branching out into other investments.

Ate jumbo shrimp here last month, pricey upscale place hidden in plain site a couple blocks off the Panam.
