    Default Victoria Maestro

First, I'm not a beer snob. I'll usually drink whatever you put in front of me. I know Victoria plays second fiddle to Toña in the beer world, but my wife got me a Maestro to try. I'm not beer savvy enough to describe it, but it's acceptable. It's not bitter or harsh, but heavy and hoppy.

Have not seen it on this side the past 2 years, need to look around, it used to only come out around the Holidays.

I'm not a fan of bitter beer either. Will have to look for one of those.

I love Maestro. It's a rich full-barley ale, very lightly hopped. It's been available in Leon year around, in the supers & mini-supers like GO market. Bars here don't offer it - too little demand. But, in my mind, it's a case of blatant beer racism, being it's so dark.

Because Toña is heavily hopped and hops (lupalo) only grows in the far north, it is now more expensive than Victoria, all out of the lone Cerveceria Nacional.

    I never met a Semite I didn't like.
