Default New - Non US route - AeroMexico

New in searches has been Toronto -> Mexico City -> Managua.

Aeromexico is also a Skyteam partner and it shows for 35,000 points and $125. The only drawback is the return flight , to maintain 35,000 Points, it is a 10:25 PM departure with a 6:45 AM arrival. If you pop up another 10,000 points (for 45,000 total) you get a more typical flight time.

Cash prices are within $40 of Avianca.

Only one bag allowance in the ticket cost.

As I still have 160,000 miles we are taking the points on this one.

We will book for April in the next day or two and I will let you know the final details.

Funny story - So flight #1, Red eye to Managua (Midnight out, 11AM arrival in MGA) went through all the motions, right through Credit card, Just to say "Sorry, not available".

Then booked a new flight that was Mexico city down Atlanta back for more points and more dollars about an hour later.

Only received notification that flight #2 worked.

Checked this morning Viola - Two sets of flights.

Quick call to Delta released the not as desirable 2nd flight and we are back on for arriving the morning of the 5th and staying until the evening of the 27th.

Both flights are Redeyes. With the return leaving on the 27th at 6:30PM and back in Toronto the next morning @ 6:30 AM.

    70,000 pints and $257 total.

    See ya there..

    So....
AeroMexico from YYZ to Mexico city.

yWhile the E-ticket stated $53.50 ea for 50# we were charged nada, nil, zippo. For some odd reason they weigh and tag you carry on-
The flight was empty - it was a 737-800 Maybe 50 people stepped off the plane (12 Vehos' chilo laughed at the line of Vehos on wheel chairs at the top of the ramp to be wheeled to customs) There was maybe 20 people for the flight down. We were able to ley down for 3 of the 4 hour flight.

Arrival in Mexico had the standard customs clearance rigmarole - Immigration form and customs form. Clear customs, put a piece of paper in the passport, go get bags, wheel bags past customs, put bags on connecting belt then clear xray and metal detectors again. Oh yea - Carts are 20 pessos had no pessos, the attendant can take a US dollar to release a cart. Even though it was only 60 yards, being packed Nica max the dollar was well worth it.

Layover in Mexico city was 5 hours just like Panama 18 months ago, but Mexico city is a much better layover price wise, seats wise and internet wise.

Arrival was at 11:05 - Flew down the pacific coast and came in between (I think) between Leon and Masachapa.

Both flights had a light meal.

Right into MGA, no banks loops or the like, straight decent.

The new national stadium is really taking shape.
S7o Aeromexico is a go for now. 2 Passengers, NicaMax packing and food - $275 Canadian bucks and 70,000 delta points.

Managua to Mexico City is another uncrowded flight leaving at a reasonable time. I've suggested the route to anyone on the West Coast US who can get AeroMexico at a US hub.

I have a Billingham camera bag with the clog and hole in the leather system -- and every customs guy seems fascinated by it. It arrived in Jinotega with all the pockets open, and Mexican customs wanted the full tour, too, but missed the back zipper pocket.

There is a weight limit on carry on, but I have only had 1 flight where they weighed it.
