    Default Security ideas

With the stories you hear about petty thieving, gangs, and other ne'er do wells, here are some ideas I found for our potential house:

    Fencing ideas

Much as I like the economy of broken glass cemented atop a 12' block wall, a hammer & heavy carpet smooth the way over.

Maybe the simplest is best: rolls & rolls of razor wire.

I have pitaya on part of the back wall. The trick is to plant the pitaya in the ground and train it up to the top of the wall. It grows pretty fast and you get the fruit, too.

Here in Hicksville I have spanish bayonet plants outside our bedroom windows, and a few at the back fence.

One option we could use, since our lot is on a hillside, is to excavate and make an underground bunker. Tom's prepper comment made me think of that. My wife won't be too happy with it though.

Underground bunker would be nice and cool tho.

Check out Trifoliate Orange, easy to hedge and probably one of the best vegetation deterrents, have it around my HVAC units.

In the cool, moisture condenses out of hot humid air.

And there fungi and yeasts and a cornucopia of tropical microorganisms thrive. Breathing all those spores is not a ticket to good health. Direct sunlight with oxygen sanitizes.

Cavemen did well during the last ice age, because it was warmer underground.

Go with high tension electric fence and some pigs in the back yard. We're not talking electric fence chargers here.

You can cobble something together with a neon sign transformer,, high voltage rectifier and high voltage capacitor (best buy is Russian surplus -they tend to be pricey but deals abound).

Cap discharges 5KV into perp,, blood boils,, at the very least he's going to lose his arm.

When the perps get electrocuted, or at the very least well-stunned, cut them up with an electric chain saw (no noise,, $49 at Harbor Freight),, and feed them to your pigs.

Or, put the pieces into a sack and give me a call.

Save money on concentrado and make the world a better place.
Think of it as genetic engineering, sounds much better than the alternative.

Or, buy this and just vaporize the perp:

There is a lot of electric fencing in SJdS,, you see it everywhere. I think that it's a hell of deterrent,, but most of it is pretty ugly.

How effective it is,, I don't know. Most is just line voltage,, 110 or 220 volts,, and would be easy to defeat. Short it somehow,, the circuit breaker trips, and there goes your fence.

My system on the other hand is a discharge from a capacitor. Depending on the capacitor you choose, and I was being facetious with that monster defense surplus unit (some laser or rail gun component probably) you get an enormous discharge,, think of a battery rated at 5000 volts.

You don't need any more than 5KV. They used to electrocute people with 2K volts. You could put a timer on it so it would only be on after 10PM,, say, and go off in the morning.

I talked to someone in SJdS, they require a permit there and have to have signage. The signage itself might be enough to encourage the perp to break into your next door neighbor's.

I don't feel the need for anything like that where I'm at. But,, the signage,, well, that might not be a bad idea. I have cameras and alarms, but who has time to watch a camera? And the alarms go off in the middle of the night as the dogs pass by.

But the perps don't know this >>>>unless they are TRN members.
