Default Recent news on small package shipping?

    Hey,

Its been awhile since I have heard good information on this. What is the latest, best way to get a small package to Nicaragua?

Its a pair of Costa Del Mar Sunglasses bought on eBay by someone in the US.

Just trying to get them over here to the Left side, like MGA or Masaya. Trying to avoid regular mail for obvious reasons...

    Anyone still using NicaBox/Tranexpress?

    Thx

from the fine folks at Transxpress and Nica Customs>

    TOTAL IMPUESTOS $48.56
    tramite poliza $13.80
    flete $5.18
    SSA $0.00
    minsa/telcor/sust. Toxicas $0.00
    total aproximado $67.54

Sooooo, about $70 to ship in a $100 pair of sunglasses. Nice!

I had a reasonable successful experience with Optima out of Miami. Typical Nica customer service,, but worked without issue.

Supposedly $2.50 pound with ten pound minimum. I shipped 50 plus pounds,, paid more like $3 but included customs and they didn't open the box.

I used one of those bins you see on all my driving posts.. I sent a lot of stupid stuff like books, but also some high dollar items. I sealed the bins with ty-raps and put a bunch of ty-raps on the top of the load so they could re-seal it if they had to open it.

i'D GIVE THEM a 9 out of ten, not great customer service in terms of hand holding, some tracking info would have been nice. Pick up in Managua,, I paid another $35 to have it brought to Esteli

For the sunglasses I would look at international express mail, given that there are not safe 100% solutions.

I've used USPS priority or express mail too, but it is pricey.
I think that IF you were in Managua, things might go faster.
You kind of have to find a friend with a box since there is no delivery. I put a phone number in large type on the label, but no cigar.

There is no tracking info once package leaves US, although other countries have it.

Nicaragua is a country in a time warp. Enjoy it while you can. In a few years, if you want color, you will have to go to Haiti or Africa.
