The news somehow missed this yesterday. Could be implications for Nicaragua if it works in Venezuela.

President Trump declared, "Today, I have officially recognized the President of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Juan Guaido, as the Interim President of Venezuela. The United States does not recognize the Maduro regime as the government of Venezuela," the statement said. "Accordingly the United States does not consider former president Nicolas Maduro to have the legal authority to break diplomatic relations with the United States or to declare our diplomats persona non grata."

Hey,, I want credit for my CR "Government in Exile" idea. But,, who??

This is really not looking so bad:

Traffic is down,, even in Estelí
Lines at the UNO station shorter,, but gallo pinto mas gallo economy is maddening. Boatloads of people selling hammocks, sun glasses, wiper blades, food, jeez, it's like a combination of the Mercado Oriental and a parade.
No one cleaning windshields though, attendants want those tips.

New, beautiful, spacious, FerroMax north of town deserted, but it still took me 20 minutes and two people to buy 500 screws.

Immediate attention in Sinsa. Me to Jeri: I was afraid you'd become a ceramica specialist, and wouldn't be able to help me anymore. Jeri: John , no te preocupes, I'm a specialist in everyrhing.
And my stuff from the bodega,, immediately loaded.
I was out of there in no time.

And no transito ! I felt cheated, no longer getting my fair share of abuse.

If this is the new normal,, well I can live with it.
At least until someone hits me over the head and steals my phone. Or worse,, like that poor guy on Little Corn

    Mi comandante ze queda!
    But, Rosario can go.

Campo is content: prices for beans and corn high.

Mad Mel all over again. When Maduro lost support of his own peeple in National Assembly he really blew it. Although in the long run booting Mel really didn't do Honduras any good as it is still a failed country waiting for the next disaster.

And that appears to be Nicaragua's destiny, as well.

You wouldn't have had nearly as much fun as a Norwegian, and it's damned cold up there.

Half my grandparents left The Oppland valley of Norway in the mid-19th century for America. They settled in the upper Midwest, where it’s almost as cold.

Ha, good point and I know you are right. I think when I was young and strong and still had hair I would have like to have frolicked with Norwegian lasses. Instead I spent all my youth tussling with Brown Breasted Mattress Thrashers that succumbed to Terminal Taco when they got close to 30.

It is colder than a well diggers ass there and in many places and I just do not do cold well, although the heat is also wearing on me as I get older. I kinda year for the temperate climate of my youth around CDMX, man I loved it there.
