Eng Explained kinda bursts the bubble on Electric pickup trucks.

Really is the amount of stored energy that is the killer for e-trucks to work. And Tesla 'aint got that...

The undenyable physics part is the amount of stored energy - While only 14% or so efficient, a pickup can store 750Kwh of equivelent energy in a 25gal tank of gas - While a tesla loaded to the gills in batteries is around 200kwh - So in summary a e-truck only makes sense when you can get the stored energy over 400/500kwh And not just more batteries as the weight is too high - it needs an order of 2 or 3X in chemistry to become viable.

If GM can do that well then they would have a winner..

Your rebuttal is a one dimensional analysis of a complex problem. The whole problem to be considered is range necessary for the application, cost of electrical energy, cost of gasoline based energy, pollution, noise, laws, political environment, etc. The truck / trailer shown in the picture may be perfect in one situation and totally inappropriate in another.

To keep it simple, a gas engine golf cart on Little Corn would be entirely inappropriate for a variety of reasons whereas en electric cart could work just fine......in that environment.

True, and most people don’t even use them for their intended purpose. “Let’s see, a Corolla, or an F-250? Either can haul groceries, but the truck looks cooler...”

I asked the Lawyer if this was the lowest dollar transaction she has done for land - She said outside of gifted land, yes...

Whaaa, a Youtube creator would never use click bait just to get views . . . Google and its Youtube community are highly ethical.

Except for the one below. Things like kittens and those two puppies are probably click bait.

$116 in taxes is great. Hope you post up some northern build videos also.

So, Will is pushing the price of his Lithium Ion batteries down nicely! Let's use $400 for a 100 amp cell. The same capacity in a GC2 would run $100. But the dollars only tell part of the story.

Will's Lithium Ion will outlast my FLA batteries by at least a factor of 2, and maybe more, depending on how well I can treat and maintain my golf cart batteries. And, the extended depth of discharge capacity of Li Ion means Will would get by with significantly less battery than I need.

I currently have 430 amps at 48V installed (fully charged, 51 x 430=21,930 KW available). I attempt to limit my discharge to 80%, so that 22KW, while nominally available, is not consisently usable unless I want to drastically limit the life of the battery.

Will can conceivably discharge his battery close to 100%, without damage.

I have relatively new batteries, and was considering another 215 amps on the next trip down. It will be another 10 years, with luck, before I have to replace the batteries,, based on my last experience, and by then the Li Ion price point will be more favorable.

I suspect that the majority of FLA users don't treat their batteries as they should, and I have anecdotal experience that proves it:

I had installed a second "planta" in Roble Dalito before I left,, August of 2019. I also gave them a Dometic propane refrigerator which I had decided was of no further use to me. They had been complaining that the refrigerator was shutting down every night, and they couldn't start it until the next day. It has a piezo electric ignition. So I sent Krisnia up to investigate. A rarity among Nicaraguan women,, Krisnia enjoys learning things that are normally limited to men.

She spent the night, so we could find out exactly what was happening. Gas refrigerators are slow to cool, and don't have great recovery. You can't stick a case of beer in a gas refrigerator and expect it to be cold in an hour. But they are consistent, steady,, and once running,, generally only fail when the propane runs out.

She got there, found the gas hose slightly pinched, but I use a nylon reinforced hose that is difficult to close entirely. The refrigerator fired up, and was running all afternoon. That night,, after the first planta I installed 3 or so years ago would no longer support their TV, they carried the TV up to the second location and watched TV (movies on DVD) until after midnight. They quit when the inverter shut down.

Krisnia took a picture of the voltage on the inverter the next morning, it was 9.9 V,, so they had completely discharged the batteries. The freezer still had frozen ice in the trays, but the gas flame was off. The refrigerator is directly connected to the 12V battery bank, 2 x 6 x 2 x 215A, ---so the inverter is not an issue in terms of the refrigerator.

But, the discharged battery was not able to keep the gas valve open, and the refrigerator lit.

I suppose a guy COULD plumb around the valve . . . . and hope (and Pray!!!) the wind doesn't blow the flame out.
