We are told (US, EU and China) that the NWP is not ours and it is public passage - Even though it is right between two of the largest islands of out territory.

I guess that means the Aleutian islands are free passage between as well

A great segue to this gem..

Excellent.......I'll bet it was originally sung in Gaelic.

Also.....another rendition of this song is here.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJqh...re=emb_rel_end

What is interesting (likely only to me) is one of the band members is using what is called (I believe) a technique called "claw hammer" picking on a banjo (4:30 or so)....I mean you just don't see / hear this any more....

Clearly Canada needs to form an alliance with Russia and Norway and take them to court.

In the name of all the brave men who gave their lives searching for the NW Passage, I raise high a pint of Molson (OK, 3/4 pint of Victoria Clasica in these circumstances).

Hearing a good balladeer in person can be an emotional experience. Once I stopped at a small bar in Arcata, California, for a cold brewski or two. The place was packed and stone silent except for this Irishman who stood above all at the far end of the bar singing Oh Danny Boy without any instrumental accompaniment. It was the saddest, most heartfelt song I've heard in my life.

That's his Son on the right.

Stan perished in a flight from Dallas to Toronto in 1983 - Fire on board causing an emergency landing in Cincinnati - The survivors state Stan was the one bellering at the top of those baritone lungs the direction to the exit.

    Stan

My Dad had all of Rogers Records and a big ol' Electrohome console - Played them often. I could actually listen to Roger when I was 12 yrs old - Nanna Muskuri (sp) ? Not so much

Here is Stan's second best know song with a little intro about how it came about at the beginning.

Barrett's Privateers - a curious re-interpretation of Canadian-American history during the Revolution War of 1776-83. Wiki's account clarifies much. Pirates of Nova Scotia raiding American merchant ships for their gold. This particular tale was a losing encounter for the privateers - America did after all, with some help from the French, win the war - but this song is clearly the source of a great deal of national pride, as you can tell by how it's sung. It is regarded as one of the Royal Canadian Navy's unofficial anthems.

Rogers was only 33 when he died in that plane fire. Such a strong national artist taken in his prime.

Tractor supply had a sale on trail cams - 2 for $99 (About $70 US)

10mpix - It is for the land up on Manitoulin. When we head up later in the summer we will post them at a couple points and then pick them up in the fall to see what walks about - Mind you it will probably be set as camera mode and not movie mode.

A search of Q12 stealth camera reflected to this video from Algonquin park. Algonquin is am amazing park only 3 hrs from Toronto It is just shy of 3 Million sq miles
