Easy for those watching from afar to expound.

Yes, misery is relative. Can't get Charmin, but some people crap in the street and clean their butts with sand.

Teasing ? Chicago Pizza sent me a $17 coupon for a pizza for my birthday, but they are still closed.
I haven't had pizza since this whole mess started. Then again, I might have got my Covid at Old Chicago.

I'd like a cheeseburger and brew at Gentle Ben's (gentle Ben is a bear) patio, but all of downtown Tucson drinks the blue koolaid, a waste of time. Most of the restaurants are closed. Why not, they got the stimulus loans, little financial incentive to stay open. Gentle Bens has great cheeseburgers.

We've reverted to the Senior menu at Guadalajara, $7.95. Happy hour starts at 3PM, we get out of there for $25 and a tip.

In addition to the heat, we have the aggravation of a large fire in the mountains NE of Tucson. No structures, and the scrub it's burning is of low value, but we get a lot of smoke and ash in the afternoon when the wind picks up.

More and more of my "set" in Nicaragua is reporting some "Covid-like" symptoms. They are in initial denial, convinced that they are going to die. Then, this enormous relief.

Arizona had 79 reported deaths yesterday, it must have got into another nursing home or two.

Mexico continues to be hammered hard,, 793 yesterday reported.

CDC has some excellent raw data, especially interesting is their calculations of "excess deaths" . The variation between geographic areas is astonishing. Another graph, updated to June 13, shows that the virus remains a danger to one specific demographic: Old people. And shows that deaths are down.

    https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/index.htm

Television news talks endlessly about the spike in cases, but no longer mentions anything about deaths. I watch NPR, ABC, and the local news which talks specifically to Arizona and Tucson. A big news topic now is, the polling data,, NYT has Biden up over Trump by 14 points !! They conveniently neglect to mention where Trump and Hillary were at this point in 2016.

Ortega is going to ball his way through this, and by end of July or sometime in August the virus will die out in Nicaragua. The way to go ?

I have no idea. The fat lady isn't going to sing for a long time yet.

Battery hook up is about an 8 hour drive from my front door. A little bit further for the Aussie here..

Thank you! I thought that I was subscribed to Will,, probably confused him with the hobbit.

I still want to do something like this, but have got a few more years on my LA batteries.

My long term goal is the solar, wind, hydro (when needed), and sell excess to Disnorte.
If I get all this in place, storage falls significantly in importance.

Note italics in long term. I have to get there first. And back and forth a couple more times.

    DADDY-YO

Tell them you are a protester and you have a first Amendment right to go to Costco. 60% of Americans are libs and they will believe you! Costco is not just a civil right but a human right, like getting loaded and violently resisting arrest.

Other than than that, you might want to talk to the Consulate about your family's travel docs. I think they can give you temp docs if they want to, especially under these circumstances.

I have a morbid fear of airport d***heads at 0500.

I was amazed how easily he was able to solder the copper bus to the nickel sheet with conventional solder and a soldering iron.

That is one cute spot welder.

Those BMW batteries look like a good deal too. $5K (with coupon) for 32KW nominal, 26KW usable.
Once thing is for sure, charging profiles are going to be different.

The battery wall is a lot cheaper,, but a lot more work as well.

I can charge at 52V only with the BMW packs, it seems, in a 48V nominal system. You can really hammer a big LA bank; I'm limited by the high cutoff voltage of the inverter, like 62V.

But, I guess it's all apples and oranges,, and will require some serious re-learning.
As long as you can get the current into the batteries while the sun shines or the wind blows

Yep - So he lives further up north from our plot by a fare bit . From what I have been able to gather it is the "Gogama" area.

Gogama is in an unorganised township with no zoning, bylaw or Ordinances - Ontario law applies (like the Ontario building code, and the criminal code, but no bylaws)

They are also abutting to Crown land on 3 sides with something like 500,000 acres that no one can buy, build or habitate (for more than 21 days) - But being Crown land the lumber trucks may roll in at some time and pull all the trees in his perimeter.

Actually in most areas north of Toronto by more than 2 hours you do not own the pine trees on your properly unless you ask the queen (Politely mind you)

Our place is a pseudo unorganized township - Light zoning (more of guidelines) some bylaws (again loose bylaws) as the "Island" falls under one master document. There is no "Local" goverment - Our princely sum of $150 property tax is paid to a city about 800km away closer to Winnipeg than to us.

Doug reviews a Car - Not just any car - As he did this review I envisioned Smithers as the driver and Mr Burns as the passenger.
