Canadian cabin man and (Relatively successful) YouTube guy Shawn James has put (or is putting) his place on the market after a road allowance was opened up and a nasty interaction with a problematic neighbor.

The detail he goes into on plot layout, road allowance and Crown land is very similar to our land up north. The exception is our roar allowance is 40 foot and the nearest crown land to us is 20Km away and is now a provincial reserve (bird) of around 30,000 acres.

Around his place the crown land (just about) abutted and probably would have been close (guess) 200,000 acres.

If you go Fay the Wuck up to where I was looking a few years bach there would be crown land up to the Arctic ocean at millions of acreas of Moose, Bears and Beaver (Not that type of Beaver)

I've been here this whole time; lurking.

When some contributors to this site expressed the dumbass opinion that authoritarianism is a moral good while individual freedom is a moral evil, I cringed, but I kept engaging, because we all need the freedom to express our opinions (no matter how backwards); that's how we learn. When those same contributors abandoned civility, I figured that my measured approach emphasizing rational thought and constructive communication had failed, and would continue to fail--at least while they continue under the delusion that everything they hear on the news in unassailable truth.

All that being said, I am still very interested in engaging with things having to do with Nicaragua. I suspect that in that focus, constructive communication can still be had.

If you have a problem with authoritarianism, not going much to discuss about Nicaragua in the foreseeable future.

2021 going be a real dark year in Nicaragua.

I really don't know of anyone who sponsors authoritarianism on TRN,, it's a pretty motley bunch with their own opinions.
Just look at their taste in music. Not much Perry Como in that mix.

Trump always represented personal freedom to me,, and for that I (and many others) were willing to overlook some of his more egregious failings. We won't see that freedom with Biden/Harris. PC will rule the day,, or at least until 2022 mid-terms.

As far as civility goes: It's in short supply everywhere. We could argue endlessly about which pot started calling that kettle black. See egregious failings above,, but it certainly didn't start or end with Trump.

Perspective is everything,, but I've always thought that TRN is and was a VERY civil place.

    It's a new year (almost).
The Chamuka will probably be the new president of Nicaragua in 2021.
At the moment there is no viable opposition.

Who knows what is going to happen in the US ??
We have a vaccine,, and pent up economic demand.
More funny money is on track before Christmas . My last Amazon delivery was a guy in a Ford passenger van:

    "What Gives?"
"We had to rent some passenger vehicles and pull everyone out of the office.
    We can't keep up."

2022 should be a very good year.
After that,, Biden's taxation plans will put significant brakes on the economy.
Investment capital will look for a new home.

And,, all this free money we have been spending dilutes the value of everyone's paycheck.
At some point the piper will have to be paid.

As empty as SJDS looks now, it reminds me of how it was when I went back in 2000. Back then, it felt like we had the entire beach to ourselves...beautiful.

I think that it was about that time frame that I first went there. My strongest memory was of an OLD abandoned hotel along the beach front that must have served the likes of Samuel Clemens and California gold miners It was a combination of gorgeous old wood architecture and a perfect location. The next time that I was there, it was torn down. Probably an empty condo there now.

My second memory was of a delightful outdoor restaurant on the beach that served all kinds of ceviche. On my last day there, I read a book all afternoon while eating 3-4 different kinds of ceviche including those slugs that they gather under the ocean side rocks. That was my last day in Nica. Next day in the USA, my ass exploded with a raw butt hole. Doc say it was too much ceviche.

SJDS is certainly beautiful ....... as is the rest of Nicaragua.
    Life's different here ... It's a whole 'nother pace.

Once it's been in salt water for a while it's hard to tell the difference between a turd and a sea cucumber. With enough lemon & onion, washed down with mucho cerveza, it may even taste the same.

    A ripe old age.

and more importantly,, " . . .I did it my way"

Lastima, he didn't die with his boots on.
So hard to make that final decision.
So often the decision is made to the benefit of those around you.

I'd rather die in a ditch on the way to Nicaragua than in a hospital.
I'd have more control,, and I could look at the sky and listen to the wind.

Either way, they'd still mark me up as a Covid death.

Northern Tool, or someone sells an inexpensive kit.
