A little comparison video of systems.

When I did field support ('96 to '11) in the US the subject came up quite regularly as we would sit and wait for the line, or tool or system to come up and all of the service would be done.

Many of the fellows I interacted with were in corporate HMO plans that had similar issues as us for Dr. availability, ER room saturation. The expressed frustration on administration of co pays and cross coverage management if both spouses were under plan. Some said that an entire weekend could be spent filling out paper for a hospital visit for a leg fracture, with cast and meds.

One fellow from Owens Brockway, who had a very frail wife, stated it was over 12 hours a month to work out all of the forms - And he was a PhD in applied mathematics !

    Ah reminiscing

So thinking about the PhD doing the 12 hours of paperwork I took to youtube to look for the machine he (John) and Tim integrated our cameras on..

This is the tool. It has ( I think I remember ) 8 slots for bottles and each bottle rotates in its slot. As the bottle spins one of 4 camera sensors inspect the bottle - One has a laser which bounces off the inner and outer surface for thickness. Another looks at the base of the bottle (Bottom heel Analysis) for cracks , another looks at the neck for cracks. I helped the designer make the first prototypes of the cameras in 1991 - I also did a mess of field support in Perrysburg OH from 95 through 2003 on those machines.

In 1995 John asked me to modify one camera to use a proprietary connector they had (a 54 pin cannon connector) so they could add another inspection for the sealing surface. I kludged one up with flywire and it worked out well. The Flywire was taken to PCB and a couple thousand were made and supplemented to existing machines. You can see one as the black box with a silver sticker in the top right by the green push button @ 1m:50s.

I was told that all of them were swapped out in the mid 00's by a new camera designed in 1998 but this 2017 video still seems to show a few ticking along a good 15 yrs after the last ones were sold.

I always had a hairbrained thought of repairing those cameras in to my retirement as I could tear one down and repair and rebuild with my eyes closed.

Canada where the most dangerous city is named "Red Deer"

It used to be Winnipeg was our Murder city...

How often do you hear "Crime scene dominated by Punjabi gangs."

Toronto now has a higher crime index than NYC..

Our city , Kitchener, is down around #20

Interesting little ditty on Big Blue and its decline.

When I started at the Mother corp in 1991 they had a connection with IBM. The Company founder has a stint with them in the 70's at the Watson's research campus in New York.

We had made a $ 1 million (1992 dollars) system for them which they sold back to us for $1 in 1993 because the entire business unit that ordered the tool was downsized at the time.

That video is of Plaza Inter by the Crown Plaza Hotel, built for Howard Hughes, now owned by Chinese, and near la rotunda of this admin's great hero, Hugo Chavez.

MetroCentro, by the InterContinental Hotel, has expanded greatly in the past couple years, definitely worth a look-see.

La Galeria is Managua's classy place to drop cash.

At $5,000, this electric car doesn't exactly 'compete' with Tesla, but considering China's goal for half the vehicles on the road to be electric by 2035, this will get 'em there.

On the electric car front - That opinionated Aussi - John C - Tears into Tesla, Electric Jesus, and the tesla fan boys in this epic 4 part rand succintly tearing Tesla from its high horse..

In short the percentage of total and yearly sales vs hte world, profit via the exchange of carbon credits, and impending armarda os 400 new electrics to be released by competitors in the next couple years doom Tesla (the car, not the company)

Mustie had a "Critter" get into his timing belt housing and cause a belt skip - I did the belts, aterpump and idler on my V6 and it is the devils work. But cool how something as simple as a mouse can cost you $500 bucks..

The new short cut to Masaya from Car Norte is open - Although it has been unofficially open since mid Dec I hear..

It will make the trip to the airport far shorter.

The only road I dislike in Nicaragua (so far) is the Tipiapa road - Seen the most dead bodies (or assumed they were dead) on the Tipitapa road over the past 16 yrs.

Timmy the Tool man (Toyota 4runner mechanic youtube channel) goes 4 wheeling in death valley

This is part 3 (released today) of 4 apparently - Death vally looks really cool drive.

I foresee the Canada US border to remain closed until late 2021 - Maybe a good time for drive to Vegas..
