The difference is enabling technology - Stupid people could "get published" if they did something stupid enough to get them in the news or arrested. Needy people could always got their needs fulfilled at some function. The difference now is that you can do all of that online now without leaving the comforts of home.

What I see is that people who can hold their shit together in person are the same on line. Those who are easily spooked the same.

    This is Chris Fix

He is a home mechanic who who does easy to mid difficulty car repairs.

This bit shows how a Prius can be brought back to life for an afternoon and $1500 bucks.

This is something I would like to try one day ...

With Youtube views and assumed associate sales they (Social blade) assume 64K to 1.1 mil a year for this guy - So again estimated 500,000 freeking bucks <sigh>

Is that a missing zero, a misplaced comma, or should it have been a decimal?

My fortune cookie the other day said I’d find a new source of income. I guess I need to get over the idea that being boring can’t be profitable. It’s just so counterintuitive, there has to be a catch.

Excellent video. We are looking for a second vehicle,, much smaller than the Ford F150 I drive everywhere.

But, big enough to haul the goodies from PriceSmart.

I had been considering a Prius,, I could charge it from my solar system,, the range is not that great, but it's down hill to Condega,, all the way,, and as I understand it,, the car charges on downhills and braking. It doesn't matter as the small gas engine would push me back up the hill if the charge is insufficient.

Simple enough to change out the cells,, but begs the question why the vendor doesn't require an exchange and do the work,, providing a complete ready to install battery and case?

This is supposedly the last year of Prius production, it's not "green" enough for AOK and her friends. They have gotten progressively more and more luxurious, and used prices trade on the age of the battery.

So, it might be a good choice for Nicaragua. Gas may get progressively more and more expensive,, and even hard to get if the "situation" ----as it's called is not resolved. Look to Venezuela for guidance. Gas is certainly not going to get any cheaper.

So,, find a sweet spot Prius,, needs a battery, in excellent condition.
Buy a new battery,, it might work.

Would something like that work for Little Corn?
Distances are so small that you could keep the battery charged from some solar.

It would work just fine on Little Corn if we had a road!

We have some paved walkways but that is it.

Not even motorcycles are permitted. Bicycles...yes.

This is why God made wheelbarrows.....lol.

How about a reality show called

    Third World $hitHole

It would be an instant hit. And, no end of destinations to visit.
Start it on YouTube until it gets picked up by one of the majors.

Getting the countries to let you film,, more difficult.
But you could have a different name for the officials,, Adrift In Paradise is a suggestion

    NSS

At my last job the tradition with fortune cookies was to add "in bed" to the message.
So, your comment would be "I will find a new source of income in bed".

As far as filming SH countries, here's the starter list--
    https://images.search.yahoo.com/yhs/...g&action=click

Lots to choose from, I suggest doing like the missionaries and going somewhere without tse flies.

    THis is "THe Wizard"

He does much of the work on the "Hovie" cars of a couple days back.

Here he critiques the 5.4 3 valve Triton - This one is a replacement of the engine completely. He is not kind to it.

I had a 5.4 Triton in our 2005 expedition that took us from 50k mi up to 165Kmi (267km) , but we did religious oil changes.

You can tell a good mechanic with 1) Clean shop 2) Some schweeeet cars in the queue being serviced.

It really starts @ 2m30s - although the forts 2 min are informative as well...

Re: building your dream home on the cheap in Nicaragua, out of spare parts, why not just drive an RV down on your new resident's allowance? (And buy cheap lots to park on all over the country for a change of scene?) This guy is doing well on YouTube (285k subscribers, plus a website cheaprvliving.com) advising folk on how it's done in the States.

Well that is a good segway... (Prius lady)

This is "Justincredible" - Cheesy name eh!!.

Justin lives in BC, Vancouver specifically where house prices are insane and apartment prices just silly - He has been living in various motored modes of transport for 15 yrs, the whole time holding down a full time job and "just doing what he wants." with his extra cash from a lower cost living model.

The purple van you see he recently sold to someone who watches his channel for over $10K of what he had into it and is currently rebuilding a Grumman (Ford F250 van chassis covered by a dual sliding door UPS/FedEx type body)

It is compelling - Drive your houseup to the mountains and ski - Drive your house to the bay and sit by the sea, drive your house on to the Ferry and go to Vancouver island and on and on.

Found him when googling microwood stoves , which he had in his previous van, a couple years back.

Seems to have his head screwed on straight even though he is of "no fixed address" (Police radio speak for someone who lives on the street)

In this video he rants on and on about people who sit on the side as life passes them bye, about vanning or anything else for that matter..

    This is Autoexperts.tv

Crikey - Many Pickups available in Nicawawa are imported into Oz as well so they are a good place to get reviews on them.

So here you can get a lot info on on the 3.2 Rander, the Mazda BT-50 the Hilux the Navara etc etc.

The BT-50 does intrigue me though unless I can find a not DT hilux for our budget.

This fellow is a hoot to watch though.

    I like the concept,,
    But,
Where does he keep his pigs.

One thing I have to warn Justin about:

Pigs fart ----- a lot! Sspwciallt when you feed them meat scraps!
So, a vegan pig might be a more suitable traveling companion.

    An intelligent idiot - entertaining!

My first LAm suicide shower had to be connected by throwing a bare two-bar knife switch mounted beside it on the shower wall. That gave me pause to ponder: self I asked, "How committed are you to making a go of living in this very foreign culture?" I'd been eased into deciding my answer after another, also living in that boarding house, showed me how to turn on the bathroom lights. No switch. Two heavy-gage copper wires stripped of insulation at the ends (formed into hooks), coming out of the wall where there may have once been a switch, had to be hooked together. A bit tricky in the dark.

All worthwhile adventures involve some personal risk, I decided. Besides, all Latinos in this world seemed to view these things as ho-hum routine.
    I never met a Semite I didn't like.

This is 50 acres and a Cabin

He is a fellow building a cabin in rural Tn. It seems to be a consistent thread for many of these off grid cabin bits to be rural Tn and Ky.

This fellow is making the exposed lumber in the interior is bordering on epic in some of these rooms.

Been following this channel for about a year ago.
