    This is Kai W

Kai is a HongKong UK dual national - He is probably one of the longest following YouTubers that I have watched, but mostly in a previous interation of DigRev.TV which is a HongKong based retailer of photography gear.

Kai always did very good reviews for them and was a good reason (in my opinion) for their (DigRev's) eventual success. They are still (DigRev) a high ranking retailer but are on decline. About 2 years ago they let Kai go but he has started up a new channel reviewing camera gear. Social blade puts him at (guess) 45KUS.

From his time at DigRev he did get a name for himself though and easily gets the newest gear for review.

Now he spends almost all of his time in the UK .

It is "The Cube" ..... I sit in one now - The cube is life sucking.

While it would have been nice to cash out earlier (my 53 compared to his assumed 35) I have no plans in sitting in this life sucking cube past 55. Although I may visit intermittantly on contract to fill the Kitty with cash if the mother corp allows.

So I am submitting parts for chemical analysis yesterday, releasing external reports on cross sectional analysis, Reviewing parts for final judgement of shipment and working on a calibration routine for dark noise issues with a Korean customer as I putter through my youtube in the side view monitor.

Along comes this suggestion of "Removing stumps to create a driveway, an example in excavation.

Always loved excavation and excavators so I watched - Pretty bland stuff but a lot on minutia like bucket attack angles for breaking roots and all, how to pour the stone for a road bed, the membrane underneath on how to keep the stone from sinking in the mud - How to put the track back on your skid steer track loader etc etc...

Next video in his queue is how to get started in excavating.

And viola - There is is - The container castle - About 2 yrs ago I ran across a 3 or 4 part series on how a fellow built a castle from shipping containers. I was passively looking for the channel again but never bumped into it again until yesterday.

So anyways, this fellow has a bunch of land in the boonies of New York State and has built a castle out of containers with bastions, a tower and all the trappings in a set of containers.

Cool place and a cool channel - Far more content than I first stumbled across him.

    This is "Epic Meal Time"

It is (was?) group of guys out of Montreal who just cook up the goofiest meat meals.

Hard to believe this was 8 yrs ago now with over 18,000,000 views.

Now it shows them making 6K a month (mid point of the span) but back in the day Harly Morenstein (The loud one) and his collection of buffoons were Youtube A listers.

This one was their breakout video for US Thanksgiving 2010

    This "The Radio Shop"

He fixes old radios (1990 and previous)

He even does restorations of old winged collins gear ( There is a cult like following of these radios from the 50's and 60's)

In this video he works on an FT-101 - It was the corolla of radios of the late 60's and most of the 70's - I have one that I am going to restore - Some day...

This is "This hour has 22min"

It is a Canadian Satire show that has been on the air for almost 2 decades. A regular improv troupe that mocks current events. It is produced by the CBC which is a commercially supported, public broadcaster.

The title has some irony in itself - Back when TV was in its infancy (Or is TV still in its infancy?) there was a show on CBC called this hour has 7 days which has lines drawn to it as the inspiration of many US and UK TV news shows. Fast forward 20 years the name is derived from only having 22 min within 30 min of allotted air time once commercials are removed.

Like most improve the typical is bland smile funny and some are chuckle funny and the odd few belly busting funny.

    This one is chuckle funny..

This is the Rick Mercer report.

The show itself has ended after a 15 yr run on the CBC (See yesterday's reference)

He did chewing gum bits (The Wawa goose, Vulcan Alberta, Maple Syrup et al) and also Rants. A google of Rick Mercer's rants will get a gaggle of them back in a search.

But he also did really good topical humor / satire like the other piece.

    This is "TAIWAN BY louisch"

He is a time lapse photography in , surprisingly, Taiwan.

Time lapse is where you take a shot every 30 seconds or an minute and reconstruct as 24 or 30 frame per second video. Youtube (and vmeo) have some real good examples.

Back from 2004 to 2009 I did a lot of work in Taiwan and it is truly stunning landscape once you get out of the cities.

Also I am running the end of my saved YouTube players so may loop back to some of the existing players content rather showing a Goose web cam - You will love the next 2 Don Jonh ...

That one came up in my Youtube feed. If you skip the first 5 minutes of repetition, he gets to the meat eventually.

"Designed specifically to kill you..." could be considered libel, as he doesn't appear to be presenting this as satire.

I didn't like how the 4-door Wrangler has its roll bar/rear stereo speakers about an inch from my forehead.

Something to do with the offset crash - e.g. driver to driver - I guess the crumple zones are designed differently between left and right ???

Here is Will again with a ditty on Lithium Titanate Batteries

Interesting chemistry for 20K cycles.... That is epic - like 54 years at 80% discharge per day.

I do see a flaw in his tests, he is testing at 12V where these look better suited for a 24 or 36V set up...

Anyways - If you can follow the solar squirrel - Here is Will again...

So driving back and forth to the camp Saturday there was a riding lawn mower with "Free" taped to the chair.

The fellow had his phone number on the tractor so I called him and he said the tractor would run fine for 2 or 3 min and then billow white smoke and had no battery.

Chilo convinced me to turn around - get the utility trailer - pick it up and bring it home.

Strapped on a battery pack and fired 'er up and it did exactly what he said.

Google lead me to a head gasket (On order from Napa - should get the call to pick up today or tomorrow morning)

Buddy here is showing me how to attack it.. (This is some pretty screwed up shtick - Kinda funny - Kinda trying too hard)

Not sure if I sell it or send it down south - It may be a $75 CDN ($60US) tractor once the battery is replaced..

Back about a month ago I put up "Mustie1"

He is a home mechanic that has been the most help for me personally on the mechanical side - Getting old chainsaws, mowers and general low impact car repairs dione with general knowlwdge bith from specific examples and general knowledge.

It looks like his YouTube revenues is now enough to branch out to a bigger shop. In this video he gives a tour of the shop - Nice space but still sticking to his frugal roots.

A quick run on social blade pegs him at possibly $100K a yr now with many videos yielding $500 a day for their life after release (say a week to 10 days) and other aggregate views totaling $100 or 200 on top..

Both this one and the Castle guy (Andres Camarata) seem to pass a lot of time for me now..
