Why not $333 RT to Tucson?
It's a lot closer.
This is what makes me put the FDC in the coffee.

Been watching fares and not many deals to be had. Spirit is still cheap until you figure trip to mga with loaded bags.
Have flown spirit many times, long as you know what you are in for they are OK, but connections are always shaky, clearing customs/immigration in FLL is hit or miss, can take a long time.
The late night arrival/departure is not so bad for going/coming to Coast, into mga just hang out in international terminal till 5am check in time for 1st coast flight, same thing going, last coast flight gets to mga 4-5.
Best fares I have seen recently, other than spirit are Dallas to Mga, via SAL on avianca. Miami and Houston bargains been scarce.
Even SJO flights been on high side and too long of a trip to coast to justify savings, especially with pile of luggage.

I almost went to Canada once, but it snowed so I went south.
expedia multicity flights like- san jose to US, US to managua. Better flights from san jose, $200 savings, return to mga to only go thru customs once.
I did this this year from Guat and it worked great until anal retentive Honduras screwed me. Googled Liberia yesterday, but they seem to have limited or seasonal flights. A friend suggested Southwest Air, but it doesn't pencil out for my destination and their website is wacko.

It was not an easy task to find BILs one way (or reasonable return) up here back a few weeks ago - AeroMexico does "Pushes" when it moves new connecting routes - In 2015 we got 3 weeks at a real good rate when they were pushing 2 new Toronto to Mexico city connection routes.
