One of our long time members has suggested that there are only two seasons in Nicaragua,,

Lodo and Polvo
You are either choking in a haze of dust, or up to your ankles in mud.

I'd like to suggest that there is at least one other season,

Moscas.

Like the biblical locusts, the flies have descended on Nicaragua. They seemed to have been brought on by the initial heavy but brief rains, and the subsequent heat that followed.

The rains were welcome. There was an eternal dust haze over Estelí that was knocked down by the sudden drenching that flooded the streets and washed some of the garbage away.

There has been the odd sprinkle, but little serious on going rain. Oddly, and I've been walking around Estelí in the evenings,, there are no mosquitos.
