    Default Boleado alert

4 day national holiday. Wife went to lab for an exam and they are all closed. Onward to more victories.

Other than that, there seems to be some bugs around other than denque. One relative had headache, rash, and fatigue. Another had headache and fever. Both came out negative on dengue test. One was offered space in a hospital room full of zancudos with some very sick patients, including one who was on the floor leaking fluids from both ends. He passed and opted for home treatment. He's had dengue twice before and doesn't want to catch it in the public hospital.

Minsa came by the other day to spray for the first time in a year or so. They came back 2 days later for a second spray saying there are big problems in the community next to ours. A friend north of town reports her pregnant daughter is in the hospital with dengue, but other than that it has not hit close to home. Minsa came by our country place for the first time ever and said we have to clean and drain our rainwater catchment tanks every 3 days.

Speaking of rain, a rainy season without rain is really weird. Weather lately has been like fall in the US desert, sunny, dry, high 80s. Deja vue all over again! Still time for October flooding. Drought is regional, they are hurting all the way to Belize which is weird because it is on the Atlantic side which is usually wetter.

Seems to be a no name virus with same symptoms and treatment as dengue. Step daughter and baby waited 8 hours in line at the clinic last night until they treated baby but not the mom. They are in the hospital today. I am the last in the immediate family of 7 to come down. I have minor systems and have started otc medicines and suero. Suero is available dry in packets that are cheaper and more convenient than the bottles. Pharmacies are not yet running out of stuff, but I am stocking up because we are in the hurricane season.

The problem with no name tropical diseases is you do not know if they are zancudo, air, or food born. We have the zancudo problem down to a dull roar here at the house, bug zapper, mosquito trap in the house and spraying frequently. This one seems to be respiratory which can be a hard thing to sort out in the yo-yo weather and pollution of Esteli.
